This page came together on a whim just by layering together all the scraps I had left over after creating my other pages. I love when that happens!

The “Shine Bright” phrase is one of the exclusive die cut phrases from the kit.

I snipped the 12″ red scallop border sticker into pieces and hid the ends behind the photos and other elements to make the border appear as though it spans both pages.

Love how the Ormolu flair looks on the top of this page. And isn’t that pirate girl the cutest?!

When Scraptastic Club announced that they were partnering with Ormolu to start a Project Life monthly kit, I couldn’t wait to give it a try in my own album. Here is my first page using the June 2013 kit. I just LOVE the exclusive stamps, cards, and flair created by Ormolu. Check it out! Here is what our family was up to the first week in June.

Here is a closer look at the left page. All of the cards are exclusive to this kit. I used the 4×6 butterfly card to create my title page for the month. I love how the calendar card gives a preview of the month, as well.

All of the cards are double-sided with subtle, versatile patterns on the backside. Here I used the back of one of the cards to create the pennant holding the word “June.” Other cards have a grid pattern, a notebook pattern, etc. The Ormolu flair is adhered to the front of the sheet protector, rather than adhering it to the card and tucking it inside the plastic.

The last week of school included a Field Day and I went to help with face painting. When the girls got home they wanted to keep practicing their hula hoop skills in the backyard. I snapped this quick photo of them, but didn’t like all the blank grass in the shot. I decided to cut a portion from the center of the 4×6 triangle card and use it as a frame around this photo. I embossed one of the gold tabs from the kit and added it to the top. I filled in the left side of the by tucking one of the exclusive die cut phrases under the left edge of the frame. The right side is where I placed a small title and a few sequins.

Below the triangle card, you can see one of the stamps from the kit. The “Quote of the Day” stamp was stamped on another piece of cardstock, cut out, and adhered to the journal card. I have a feeling I’ll be using that stamp a LOT. We have LOTS of “Quotes of the Day” in our family.

Here is a closer look of the right side of the page.

On the left side of the photo below, you can see the other exclusive flair button included in the kit. I wanted to decorate this photo, but didn’t want to adhere the tape and flair directly to the photo, so I adhere them on top of the sheet protector. The “Let’s Review” 4×6 card on the right has more sequins. I have also added some color to the bottom of the card with the washi tape and added a couple of the exclusive stamps to this card in navy blue ink.  The “Not Shown” stamp on the next row down is also a part of the stamp set from the kit.

I love the die cut 3×4 phrase card in the kit. I used other patterns from the kit to back each word for some fun color. My favorite stamp of the stampset? … The “Currently” stamp (in red ink) on the bottom row.

Finally, I wanted to add some detail to the “Stay Cool” card so I machine stitched along the stripes and added a few more sequins. I thought this was the perfect card for the last day of school … because isn’t that one of the classic phrases you write in yearbooks as you are signing them? LOL! Stay Cool this Summer!

I do have a few Father’s Day projects that I thought I would share with you today. The first one is a gift set that I put together for BasicGrey using my Silhouette Cameo machine.

For this project I used a mixture of the BasicGrey Hey! Collections. My husband really doesn’t like when we make a fuss over him on holidays/birthdays … if he had it his way, we would all just go about like it was a normal day. And if we do give him any gifts, he prefers the practical and useful kind. Boring, right?! Well, just because he likes practical gifts, doesn’t mean that I’m going to wrap it up in a practical way. Hehe! My kids and I still shower him with all kinds of fanfare and this trophy gift bucket will be the perfect way for us to display our affection for him. It’s roomy enough to hold several small gifts and notes, and after he goes through them, it will look great sitting up on the mantel for the remainder of Father’s Day.

I created the base of the trophy with light yellow cardstock using my Cameo and an SVG cut file by SVG Attic (“Day at the Races” set). For the top layer, I used a yellow pattern from the Hey You 12 x 12 Paper Pad. Next, I decorated the front of the trophy with an award created with my die cut machine using more papers from the Hey You collection. I placed a wooden button from the Hey Boy collection with the number one on it in the center of the award. You could even make the award removable so that he has to wear it pinned to his shirt during his Father’s Day dinner!

For the card I used more of the Hey You papers to cut out a hot air balloon image. I used the Hey Boy Printed Chipboard Alpha letters to spell “Dad” across the top and added a couple of clear blue buttons from the Hey Boy Buttons and Brads as an accent.

This second project is a layout that I have up on the My Mind’s Eye blog today using the Kate & Co. Oxford Lane Collection.

Other: White Cardstock, Teal Spray Ink,  Navy Stamping Ink, Acrylic Block, Black Distress Ink, Scissors, Trimmer, Adhesive, Foam Squares

My husband’s favorite color happens to be white, and so I decided to begin this page with a crisp white background spritzed with a few droplets of teal spray ink. I love how the colors and patterns of this collection look against that white background.  I added horizontal bands of patterned paper across the top and bottom of the page to “frame” it a bit and then added some extra bits to the top for some fun. I used the decorative tape along with a layered sticker, enamel brad and a stamped flower.

I adhered the #1 Sticker to a circle punched from a smaller scale patterned paper from the 6 x 6 paper pad and then fussy-cut a few flower sprays as accents. I also stamped a few more flower shapes around this cluster.

The journaling is contained on the “Fun” chipboard journal block and accented with more stamping and fussy-cut flowers. It’s been awhile since I’ve done any fussy-cutting and I love the detail and texture it adds to a page.

This week at Scraptastic Club I played along with the monthly Sketchy Thursday Challenge on the blog. My fellow design team member, Susan Stringfellow, creates the most amazing sketches and I’m always excited to try my hand at them. Here is her sketch and my resulting page using the May 2013 After the Storm Kit and Add-On.

I cut out a template using my Silhouette Cameo machine using artwork from the Silhouette Online Store. Next, I traced the different “sunrays” on the different patterns and then pieced them together in a haphazard way.

I combined the exclusive flair from the kit with a corrugated shape from the kit to create the sun. I also added a few “twinkle” stickers accented with the candy buttons from the kit. The label stickers are also from the kit. I used a stamp from Scraptastic Club’s Mr. Brightside stampset on the top one. The mini paperclips are from my stash.

So are you going to do any scrapping this weekend? My June Scraptastic Club kit just arrived (full reveal on the Scraptastic Club site tomorrow) … and I’m thinking I’m going to spend some one-on-one time with it. LOVE it!

This first page features my tired kids after their school’s Field Day last year. It is a day full of splashing, treats, and fun with their friends, which I think the carvinal accents were PERFECT for! I layered together several strips of patterned paper and border elements along the top and bottom of the page and then added some rhinestones from my stash for a bit of sparkle. (The photo looks a little on the purple/blue side, but I promise it’s not like that in real life.   )

This page is all about my teen. She served on student government last year and for the last school dance she wanted to get people really excited to come. My husband and her came up with the idea to make interactive posters with the “Party Rock” Anthem hamster song. LOL! Each poster had a different interactive element that you would lift and then music would start playing. They used the musical elements found in greeting cards to make this happen. It was so funny! I thought the junior high kids would tear them apart, but they actually left them intact and got a big kick out of them.

I used the plaid, stripes and star elements from this collection for a funky feel. I love the gold foil on some of the paper elements!

For even more texture I added aqua microbeads to my title letters and a punched heart placed in the center of the camera die cut.

This last page is a page redo of a picture of my kids meeting Rapunzel and Flynn Rider at Disneyland last year. I just didn’t like the colors I had used on my previous page. I have been waiting for a collection that would inspire me to play with that photo again (it’s a bit dark and has TONS of color … so it’s a difficult one) and the Carnival Queen collection was it! The colors coordinate wonderfully with Rapunzel’s artwork in the background. I used some of the 4″ x 6″ cards for my title and journaling spot, and then layered together the flower die cuts with the dimensional accordion medallions for the flower centers for a girly feel. Finally, a pre-stitched garland adorns the bottom of my design.

Last year, while we were visiting the cemetery I mentally took a step back. I looked out across the cemetery at ALL of the cars and families there visiting. It was heartwarming to see so many people there, gathered together with their extended families remembering their loved ones. Some families were on blankets telling stories about their family members and discussing their pioneer history and I just felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude to live in a town where people stop and take the time to REMEMBER. To appreciate. To pay tribute.

I created this layout of our photos from last year’s Memorial Day along with my feelings. I used the May 2013 Scraptastic “After the Storm” kit and Add-On. I love that Jessica includes two of a few of the cardstocks so that you are able to create a double-pager if you would like. I think sometimes we forget that we don’t need two of every patterned paper to create a double pager … you just have to get a little creative with your cuts.

For example, I knew that I could cut sections out of the multi-floral paper to use on both sides of the page because the pattern isn’t directional. Meaning, I can use it both horizontally and vertically and the pattern appears the same. I cut other patterns into blocks, grouping photos together on each of them, and pieced everything together. Keeping the margins the same across both pages keeps the continuity. I also stretched a band of striped paper across both pages to “connect” them together.

I handcut additional yellow butterflies from the patterned paper and popped them up with foam squares. The enamel dots added to the butterfly centers and arrows add another layer of dimension.

I had fun adding little pops of washi tape here-and-there.

My jumping off point for this page was the Krafty Floral paper. *da-thump, da-thump* … because it makes my heart go pitter-patter. I mean, LOOK at those florals … go ahead … take a peek at them close up. See the patterns over the top? Yes, that keeps those flowers from feeling too gramma-ee. I placed a band of that paper across the bottom of my page, and then selected the aqua and lime green patterns to go with it.

Next, I arranged my photos in a band across the center of my page. As you can see, one of the photos is more of a headshot of my daughter and the other two are full body shots. I decided that I wanted to call more attention to the headshot photo by categorizing them and separating them from each other. In the space in between, I placed the large floral chipboard piece.

Next, I placed the banner chipboard “title” across the top of the photos and embellished it with all kinds of goodies in different shapes.

My journaling was printed on white cardstock. It felt a little too bright, so I toned it down with a spritz of olive green shimmer spray. I added a stamped phrase underneath the headshot photo and then accented the journal block with a hot air balloon stamped on vellum, small heart sticker, and enamel dots.
