Cuttlebug Anna Griffin Embossing Folders – MATELASSE

I’m back with the final installment of the Cuttlebug Anna Griffin Projects. Don’t forget! These amazing Cuttlebug folders are available on the Cricut.com website here.

Today, I’ll show you my FAVORITE of the three I worked with … the Matelasse Embossing Folder. I love the “basket weave” quilted feel of this one!

Cuttlebug Anna Griffin Embossing Folders – ROSA

If you saw my post on my Embossing Folders binder awhile back, you may have guessed that I have a fierce obsession with collecting these little beauties. :) I love a good tool that I can use over and over, and I love pattern! Inexpensive tool + pattern = my love for embossing folders! They are the perfect way to add subtle interest to a piece of cardstock. I HEART them!!!

At the end of last year Cricut asked me to create several projects for a January HSN release using Cuttlebug Folders designed by Anna Griffin. They are GORGEOUS! They are sold out on the HSN site, but you can purchase the Anna Griffin Folders on Cricut.com HERE.

I thought I would take this week to share my projects with you that I created with three of these delicious folders. The photos of the projects aren’t the greatest, but hopefully you get the idea.

Today I’ll show you the projects I created with the ROSA FOLDER. If you’d like to see the others, I will be posting them over the next couple of days.

My Mind’s Eye Design Team Guest Designs at Page Maps

I love me a good sketch! So you KNOW I was excited when the My Mind’s Eye was invited to contribute samples to Becky Fleck’s PageMaps sketch site for the month of April. :D :D :D Happy, Happy, Happy! (As Phil would say)

Here is the sketch I worked with:

apr13_12x12d

And here is the page I created using the My Mind’s Eye Collectable Collection.

JanaEubank_MyMindsEye_MonsterMoth1

The moths were cut with my Cricut Expression machine using the Live Simply cartridge. I embossed their wings with my Cuttlebug Machine and the Peacock Feather folder from the Animal Prints folder set. I love the bit of shine the enamel dots add!

JanaEubank_MyMindsEye_MonsterMoth2

It’s hard to tell from the snapshots on my layout … but that moth was HUGE!!! We just don’t have moths like that here in Utah. I’ve lived here my entire life and this is the first time I’ve ever seen something like that. Each of the bricks on our home are 3″ tall and his wings spread across two of them. I felt a bit like that Spongebob Squarepants episode where the town is afraid of the butterfly … none of us were brave enough to get close to it, except for my son, for fear that it would come at us. LOL!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team created for the April PageMaps HERE. These girls are amazing!

I’m the Lucky One

I really do feel like the lucky one. I love my family so much and this St. Patrick’s Day I am doing a lot of reflecting about how lucky I feel to have these 5 people in my life. :D I won’t get too sappy on ya, but I just want the world to know that I LOVE my family! :D

Today I have a St. Patrick’s Day layout going up on the My Mind’s Eye Blog. My kids totally get into St. Patrick’s Day … they get into every holiday, actually. Don’t you love that about kids? Every day is a reason to celebrate, and holidays are even that much more special! :D Here are my kidlets all decked out for St. Patty’s Day last year. It was a Saturday, so they wouldn’t be at school with friends and the threat of getting pinched … yet they STILL wanted to dress up in their green and asked me to spray their hair green with Halloween hair paint. They looked so funny with their sickly green hair, kind of like they had been swimming all summer without baths. LOL!

I’M THE LUCKY ONE

JanaEubank_MyMindsEye_LuckyOne1

I used the My Mind’s Eye Collectable Memorable collection. Aren’t the colors perfectly sweet? Playing with it has definitely given me a case of Spring Fever! I love how MME does softer color palettes. Soft and Spring-y, yet not washed out and pale. This girl needs COLOR! Hehehe!

I began this page by figuring out how I wanted to place my pics. Sometimes I will print my pics out in random sizes (by changing the reduction percentage) and just force myself to try a new size. For these I set my pics to print out as 3.5″ x 5″ at 80%. They came out as 2.75″ x 4″. I grouped the girls together on the bottom, and then paired my son up with a journaling card on the top row.

JanaEubank_MyMindsEye_LuckyOne2

I wanted green on this page (of course!) for St. Patrick’s Day, so that’s why I chose the tweed looking green pattern in the background. But my kids green hair next to that green paper was looking a little seasick … so I chose to mat the photos on complimentary papers. Pink for the girls, and tan for the boy. :) The striped paper ties all of the colors together (Thank you MME wonderful designers for doing the hard work for me! you make picking paper so easy! ;)   ).

The title and shamrocks were created with my Silhouette Cameo machine. The title is a welded phrase from the Silhouette store (by Samantha Walker Designs). I cut it out in three colors: hot pink for a shadow, green for the base, and then a lighter green. I used scissors to snip out the word “Lucky” from the lighter green, embossed it with my Swiss Dots embossing folder and my Cuttlebug machine, and then adhered it to the other green layer. A few butterflies (with enamel dot bodies) and a brad make it a little more fun!

JanaEubank_MyMindsEye_LuckyOne3

My grid design filled up most of the page, but I HAD to have some Shamrocks on there! :D I cut them out with my machine, embossed them, and then accented them with My Mind’s Eye goodies (label stickers, chipboard, decorative brads, chip buttons, and a bit of twine). I used to spend HOURS looking for a four-leaf clover during recess when I was a little girl. My friend found one once … but I never did. Awww, well. Maybe some day! Hehe! In the meantime, I will just make my own with lots of cute, scrappy details! :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! And that you get to spend it with the people that make you feel blessed and “lucky” for having them in your life!

Thanks for coming by! See you again soon!

Winter Cricut Projects

Last weekend, we were hit with a HUGE snowstorm. We received 24″ within 12 hours and school was cancelled the next morning. My kids were excited to be home from school and the girls ventured out to play for a bit.

Maryn LOVED the deep snow. Here she is *trying* to make it to the front door … she gave up halfway and came back.

Blog1b

Snow angels are a little hard to do in deep snow.

Blog2b

Cam wasn’t that big of a fan. She wasn’t feeling well and wanted to play so badly. But it was too darn cold. She took a few obligatory photos and then headed back inside with the dog. :)

Blog3b

In the spirit of snow, I thought I would share a few wintry projects for you that I created for Cricut awhile ago using the Snow Folks Cartridge.

HOT COCOA KIT

A clear craft paint can makes a cute container to make a hot cocoa kit with. Just layer together hot cocoa mix and marshmallows and add a tag with instructions. It’s sure to warm up someone’s day! Instructions and a Cricut Craft Room cut file can be found HERE on the Cricut.com website.

SLEDDING PARTY INVITATION

Are you getting friends together for a sledding party soon? This window invitation would be a fun way to get everyone excited. Instructions and a Cricut Craft Room Cut File can be found HERE at the Cricut.com site.

I LOVE WINTER Scrapbook Page

This fun and happy snow page uses the Bella Blvd. Winter Wonder collection. I added a heart to the title block over the existing heart with the Doodlecharms cartridge. The heart and snowman are embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, and the snowman’s sled gets a woodgrain texture with the Distress Stripes embossing folder. Instructions and a Cricut Craft Room Cut File for this project can be found HERE on the Cricut.com site.

Birthday 2-Pager

Hello Tuesday Readers! I’m back with another page featuring photos that I have been ignoring for awhile. Hehe! I’m starting to call these “Get ‘Er Done!” pages in my head while I’m working on them (said in my best tow truck Mater voice). Hmmmm. Maybe that will become a weekly feature on this ol’ blog of mine … who knows? :)

SWEETIE PIE

I “shopped my stash” on this one pulling out an older collection by Echo Park Paper called Summer Days. I used mostly the “B” sides and a few striped paper strips. The banner sticker, word stickers, and journal blocks are also from this collection.

JanaEubank_SweetiePie1b

The hearts are inexpensive, glittery foam hearts that I picked up at Michael’s last year. They don’t even have a company name on them to give credit to, but they sure look girly and cute on this page. :)

JanaEubank_SweetiePie2b

The “Sweetie Pie” title and pie are from the Silhouette store. I cut them using my Cameo machine. The layered circles, cupcake, and ice cream (Sweet Shop Cartridge) were cut using my Cricut Expression. I embossed the white layer of the circles with my Cuttlebug machine and the Swiss Dots folder.

JanaEubank_SweetiePie3b

I added texture to the cupcake paper with my crimping tool.

Thankful

Hello friends! It’s been awhile. I didn’t mean to let this few-and-far-between blogging pattern take hold of me, but lately, I just haven’t been feeling very chatty. I HAVE been creating though … can’t stay away from that … so I will try and catch up and load those projects here on the ol’ blog. :)

I know Thanksgiving seems like old news now that Christmas is on it’s way … but I do have a couple of Thanksgiving projects to share, if that’s alright with you. :)

SUPPLIES:
BasicGrey Serenade collection: Serenade Chemise Paper, Serenade Bustle Paper, Lucille Selvage Paper, Lucille Pin It Paper, Serenade Element Stickers, Serenade Alphabet Stickers, Serenade Printed Chipboard, Serenade Mixed Brads

I used the Serenade collection (Loooove!) to scrap some snapshots from last year’s Thanksgiving. We were actually planning on driving three hours to my sister’s home for the weekend. Before we left, I decided to cook an impromptu turkey dinner just for our little family. The kids were so excited! The girls drew a banner to hang on the mantle and my son created placecards on the computer for everyone. We had a great time cooking everything together. My husband quickly snapped these shots with his cell phone of our time together and I’m so glad he did! The next morning four of us woke up with the flu and we ended up staying home and never had an “official” Thanksgiving dinner with our extended family.

I spritzed the background paper with walnut ink and then began building my page by matting each photo on a different pattern paper. I adhered the photos side by side used the large floral sticker and layered border stickers to “connect” everything. The title was created with the chipboard letters that come with the Printed Chipboard.

I printed my journaling out on a transparency and added it to a journaling sticker. A few brads and more chipboard pieces here-and-there complete the page.

………………………………………………….

Growing up, my mom always left little treats for us kids on the kitchen counter for almost every holiday. They were so much fun to wake up to! When I saw this pilgrim hat cut on the Silhouette site, I knew it would be the perfect little container to hold a few treats for my kids. I added glittery yellow Stickles to the buckle and then created a couple of “feathers” to tuck in the hat band for additional color. The feathers were actually created from a free tropical leaf cut available on the SVGCuts.com website HERE. (On a side note, SVG Cuts has 28 pages of free designs available to download … be sure to go check them out HERE. WOW!)

JanaEubank_PilgrimHatFavor1

JanaEubank_PilgrimHatFavor2

I also created a pilgrim card for each of them. It was fun to write each of them a note and tell them all kinds of gushy-lovey reasons why I am thankful for them. :) How cute is that pilgrim cut?! This one can be found in the Thanksgiving Harvest set at Lettering Delights. The card design was inspired by THIS CUTE HALLOWEEN CARD created by Jin of UnderACherryTree.com.

JanaEubank_GiveThanksCard1

JanaEubank_GiveThanksCard2

Next, I created a couple of Pie shaped gift boxes filled with candies. I took one to my parents and one to my husband’s parents to thank them for having us over for Thanksgiving Dinner at each of their houses. The pies are so much fun to make! I’m thinking I’m better at making a paper pie than a real one! LOL! You can find the file for the pie in the Fall Harvest SVG Kit at SVG Cuts.com. My girls begged me to make each of them a pie as well and they have been using them in their play kitchen, pretending to bake them in the oven. LOL!

JanaEubank_Pie1

JanaEubank_Pie2Open

And then finally, I used this free SVG file by Lettering Delights (find them on the blog www.underacherrytree.com HERE) to create these tiny little pumpkin purses filled with candies for a few of my gal pals at church. In addition to the SVG file you can also download a PDF for the gratitude cards. (I plan on adding one or two to a future Thanksgiving/Fall page!)

JanaEubank_PumpkinPurse

Thanks for taking a peek at my work! I’m so happy you came by today. :)

Take care!

Little Red Schoolhouse

Can you feel it yet? Autumn is just around the corner. YAY!!! Yes, it is still crazy hot during the days, but at night there an ever-so-slight change in the “feel” of the air signaling that cooler days are ahead. I love it! I love it! I love it! I have been busy going on school-shopping dates with the kids this past week. Two and a half down (Jensyn still needs a few things), and one to go! I love school shopping! And I love the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with each of my kids. We have so much fun laughing over the quirky things that happen while we are out (like the waitress serving us our salads at lunch and asking us if we need forks for those . . . Bwaaahaaa!).

I have been using my Silhouette machine a lot lately and have a new obsession … the digital cut files at SVG Cuts. They have digital files for the most adorable boxes and cards you have ever seen! And they do a BEAUTIFUL job showcasing them and explaining how to put them together with their videos. I decided it would be fun to put together the shoolhouse boxes from the School Days SVG kit for the kids’ to take to their teachers on the first day of school filled with notecards or a notepad and a goodie or two.

These kinds of projects are perfect for making a dent in the papers I am hoarding in my stash. :D For this first schoolhouse set, I used the Hometown collection by Pink Paislee, with a ledger paper and plaid paper from the Old School collection.

I created the card exactly as it comes in the file, but added a band of plaid paper underneath the pencils. The cute burlap buttons are from Nikki Sivils.

I had a blast decorating the shoolhouse. The ABC and apple cuts are from SVG Cuts and are included in the School Days digital kit. The flag and owl were created with my Cricut Expression machine. The owl is from the Recess Lite cartridge (I trimmed his graduation hat off with my scissors), and the flag is from the Stand & Salute cartridge (with the flag pole trimmed a bit shorter). The little chalkboard is a Silhouette cut by Lori Whitlock. I wrote on the chalkboard with a white gel pen, and then punched tiny holes in the corners so that I could hang it by the door with a mini brad and a bit of twine. The red cardstock panel on the front of the schoolhouse was  embossed with my Cuttlebug machine and the Distress Stripes embossing folder.

The letter stickers are from the Pink Paislee Old School collection. And the bushes around the sides of the schoolhouse were created with my Cricut Expression machine and the Live Simply Lite cartridge.

The roof of the schoolhouse opens up on a hinge. At the tallest point of the roof it is 6.5″ tall, so you could even put in a cute, decorated bottle of hand sanitizer if you wanted. :)

I didn’t have enough paper to do all of the schoolhouses the same . . . which is completely fine to me! Heck, it gives me a chance to make a dent in my stash. :D Here is the same schoolhouse, created in a slightly darker color scheme with all Pink Paislee Old School papers.

I added a little embossing to the pencils on this one with the Cuttlebug Polka Dots embossing folder and then wrapped the pencils with some My Mind’s Eye baker’s twine.

My kids are in love with these little boxes and can’t wait to surprise their teachers with them. Hehehe! Hmmmm … maybe I will send their teachers a new goodie box every single month JUST so I can have a reason to have fun making more boxes! Ha!

Have a great week!

School Page

As the end of the school year winds down, I feel a panic to get my kids’ school albums updated with their yearly memories before they are home for the summer and I am distracted with all the fun that comes along with having them home. I pulled out my Noel Mignon May 2012 Jack & Jill kit, and my Cricut supplies and got to work creating this page about Jensyn serving in student government this year.

My daughter’s school mascot is the eagle. I used the eagle from the Summer Celebrations cartridge and added him to a series of layered circles embossed with my Cuttlebug Machine and the Chevron embossing folder from the Cuttlebug Starter Set . I added a kraft flag from teh kit to the eagle’s claw holding my daughter’s initial . . . a subtle way to show her that we are her biggest fans.

Next, I created my title. I used my Gypsy to elongate a banner image from the Jubilee Cartridge. I added the word “Bountiful” to the banner shape using the darling sparkly letter stickers from the Jack & Jill kit. The font for the word “Eagle” comes from the Varsity Letter cartridge. . . perfect for school-themed pages! The circle with the star image is from the Sophisticated Cartridge. I added a decorative brad, stamped camera, and a stamped cardstock strip.

I wanted a school-themed journaling block for my school-themed page. I used my Gypsy (or Cricut Craft Room), to hide the smiley face and elongate the notebook image from the Simply Charmed Cartridge. The star border and “School Zone” phrase were created using the Graphically Speaking Cartridge. I added embossing to the School Zone phrase by embossing it with my Cuttlebug Machine and the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder. Stamping, label stickers, and decorative brads & rhinestones from the Jack & Jill kit add some personality.

Finally, I wanted my photo to have a special treatment on this page. I decided to cut a lace number background using the Art Philosophy Cartridge by Close to My Heart. I am so happy that this kit had my favorite Basic Grey buttons inside! I used them to anchor my photo to the background.

Cricut Machines Used: Cricut Expression Electronic Cutting Machine, Cricut Craft Room, Cuttlebug, Gypsy Handheld Design Device
Cricut Cartridges Used:  Simply Charmed , Plantin Schoolbook, Summer Celebrations, Varsity Letter, Sophisticated, Graphically Speaking, Art Philosophy, Jubilee
Cuttlebug Embossing Folders Used: Swiss Dots, Starter Set (Chevron)
Other Supplies: Scrapbooking Kit (Noel Mignon), Cardstock (white, gray, teal, red, kraft), Patterned Paper (Basic Grey, Lily Bee Design), Letter Stickers (American Crafts), Brads/Label Stickers (My Mind’s Eye), Buttons (Basic Grey), Pearls (KaiserCraft), Kraft Flag Pin/Red Stamping Ink (Maya Road),  Rhinestones (Queen & Company), Buttons (Basic Grey), Photo Corner Punch (Stampin’ Up), Stamps (Camera/Numbers – Lawn Fawn, Letter “J” – Scrappy Cat, Stitch Roller – We R Memory Keepers), Needle & Green Floss, Sewing Machine & Black Thread, Adhesives

How many weeks until your kids are out of school? Mind are in for three more week . . . . and I hope to get their books caught up in that time!

Have a great week!
