This month at My Mind’s Eye I was assigned to create a project incorporating the NEW wood pieces that have been included in the Miss Caroline and Indie Chic collections recently. I ADORE using these on my page . . . they add such a great, natural texture and are different than the normal embellishments usually reach for.
I have been hoarding these a bit, and thought it might be fun to create a collage with them on the background of my scrapbook page. I arranged them in a fun way (LOVE all the different shapes together), but then decided I wanted to add a bit of subtle color. I pulled out my watercolor paints and gave a few of them a light color wash in pink or gray. Soooo fun! If your wood shape has printing on it, just turn it over and use the blank backside. I was tempted to keep painting . . . but controlled myself and left a few of them natural.
Next, I thought it might be fun to add a bit of pattern to the wood shapes. Pull out the washi tape! A simple strip of decorative tape to a few of the shapes was all I needed for a bit of variety. I accented the strips with buttons and rhinestones.
I used a printed wood piece from the Indie Chic collection as a frame for the smaller photo of my daughter and tucked the journaling underneath the right edge. I even achored my title on one of the woodcuts.
This was such a fun page to put together! I hope you will give My Mind’s Eye wood shapes a try!
See you again soon!
All great ideas!! I have some that just might be introduced to my Washi collection.
