Along with everyone else I have been doing a little bit of organizing in my own creative space. Here is a look at my latest organization project.
Over the years, I have acquired a growing collection of embossing folders. I LOVE them! I have them all organized alphabetically in boxes, but it is quite cumbersome to flip through them to remind myself what patterns I have. Soooo …. I decided to create a reference book for myself. I purchased baseball card sheet protectors and a standard binder.
Next, I used my computer to create 2.5″ x 3.5″ cards with the names of each of my folders on them. I included the company, folder name, and size of the folder. Then I embossed each of the cards with the corresponding folder.
I LOVE my book! Having each card in it’s own slot allows me to see the front AND back of the pattern easily. I can group similar patterns together for easy comparison, and I can pull out the sample cards and hold them up to my project to see which pattern will work best. It’s been a great system. I hope you’ll give it a try! Here is a peak at a few more pages of my book.
Happy Scrapping!

LOVE your idea for the embossing folders! I’m going to tweak it a bit by placing the cards on a binder ring instead of in a binder. And I am SO excited to get a copy of this magazine. One of my favorite things is to see how other people organize their scrappy stuff. 🙂

OMG! If I win this book I might just get my first New Years resolution of 2013! I’m always looking for ways to get organized! I organized my embossing folders too! I guss I’m a bit of a “embossing folder whore!” LOL I made tags using my Cricut. I embossed the tags using each of my embossing folders. I added the name company & the name of tthe embossing folder to each tag. I punched holes in each tag. I placed them on a 2″ ring. I flip through the ring rather than the box of embossing folders. I LOVE your idea Jana!

Thanks Jana for the tips! I just did a small reorg of my craftroom but it certainly could use more. i hazve a similar process for my embossing folders. I put the cards on a loose leaf binder ring and I ink the card so I can really see the embossed pattern. It really does make finding and using the right folder so much easier.

i really do love this idea of yours but my question is — what do you do with the actual embossing folders???? How do you organize them?
LikeLike
Hi, Chris! Thank you for your question! I have organized them a couple of ways over the years.
For awhile I had them in boxes, vertically, so I could flip through them.
http://noelmignonlayouts.blogspot.com/2014/01/my-scrapbook-space-and-storage-ideas.html
Then, I moved them to binders in 5×7 sheet protectors (2 up in an 8.5×11 format). I don’t have a picture of that, but it worked well for awhile.
I now store them vertically on a roll out shelf in my scrapbook room. I don’t have photos, but I believe I show it in the 2nd video on this scrap room tour post (this is from last year).
I hope that helps! Thanks for reading, and I hope you found some useful information. 🙂
