Wild For You! and a Heads Up About a Giveaway

Happy Friday to my Creative Friends! I’ve been missing in action for a few days as I have been working on several projects that are due later this month. I will be sharing those with you soon! But today I have a fun Valentine’s Day layout to share with you using the Noel Mignon February 2014 Book of Love kit (sorry, sold out).

Before I get into that, I wanted to let you know about a GIVEAWAY that is happening on the 3 Birds Design Facebook page. This past week on the 3 Birds Design blog you have been able to take a look at the new collection, Graceful Season. Today 3 Birds Design is giving away the amazing Quilled Cardmaking Kit before you are able to buy it. For more details and a link to the 3 Birds Design Facebook page, be sure to stop by at the 3 Birds Design Blog today HERE.

Valentine’s Day gets me in the mood for all things cutesy, sweet, and punny! I tend to go crazy with the die cutting machine and this page is no exception. The cool thing about this page?! A lot of the die cuts on here are absolutely FREE and available to you in the Freebies section at SVGCuts.com! I will include full instructions below, so that you can recreate this page if you would like. πŸ™‚

Last year was an eventful one for my son. He had his first dance with his 6th grade class, received a Valentine from his crush, and earned money to give her back a gift (a stuffed animal and rose … he even raided my stash to make her a handmade card! πŸ™‚ ) The Cute Lion Freebie by SVG Cuts reminded me of the stuffed lion that he bought and I knew I had to use it on this page. I didn’t have the exact color of pink cardstock that I wanted to use, so I created my own using the Heidi Swapp Blush Color Shine Spray included in my Book of Love kit. I love how evenly and consistently these sprays go on. Once my sheet was dry, I had a beautiful piece of shimmery pink cardstock to load into my die cut machine. Not only did I use it to cut out the lion, but also the background for the word “wild,” and the “4U” letter/number on the heart.

The roses also get a shimmery treatment from the Heidi Swapp Blush Color Shine spray. I cut out both the bottom layer and the top layer from red cardstock. I set aside the top layer and then used the spray to give the bottom layer a fine mist. The result is a tone-on-tone look that adds depth to the cut.

I know that roses do not have jungle leaves in nature. πŸ™‚ But I think they look super cute together on this page … the combination helps to strengthen the “Wild for You” theme I have going on. πŸ™‚ If you would like the cut sizes and full instructions for this page, be sure to click on the download below.

And while you are over at SVGCuts.com, be sure to check out the lastest free download with a purchase of $9.98 … the Instant Memories SVG Collection.

  1. WOW!! I have been following your blog for quite some time now, and I regret that I have not taken the opportunity to tell you that YOU ROCK!! I am learning so much from you, and I just wanted you to know. My resolution this year is to comment on every single blog that inspires me. This layout is AWESOME, and I can’t wait to try to recreate something similar!! Thank you, Jana, for your ongoing inspiration and for taking the time to provide so many details to help those not quite as experienced. After reading your instructions, my first though was … “Wow. I might be able to do that.”
