Last Two Halloween Pages and a GIVEAWAY!

It’s been so wonderful creating and sharing Halloween projects with you these past couple of weeks. Today I’ll be sharing the last two pages in this set and then will be moving on to Fall/Thanksgiving/Family related topics next month. I appreciate you taking the time to visit and for the warm welcome you have given me back into the blogging world. 😀 It’s been so nice to hear from so many of you in the comments here and on Facebook. Thank you!!!

HALLOWEEN DANCE

Today I’m scrapping pictures from my daughter’s Halloween Dance date last year. Each couple dressed as a different decade. They looked so cute as a group! Jensyn and her date went in 80s style. How do you like her fish net sweater, bright jewelry and leg warmers? Classic!

I wanted to play with the bold polka dot paper from the Project Life Midnight Edition Collection kit on this page, but I knew if I wasn’t careful, the bold pattern would overpower the photos. To keep the larger pattern in check, I placed it on a kraft cardstock background and paired it with patterns that were less commanding.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock, Patterned Papers (Project Life, Die Cuts with a View, Martha Stewart Crafts, My Mind’s Eye), Die Cuts/Chipboard Elements (Crate Paper), Buttons/Mini Stapler (American Crafts), Dimensional Stickers (Me and My Big Ideas), Letter Stickers (Bella Blvd.), Punches (American Crafts), Deco Scissors (Provo Craft), String

I created clusters of embellishments around the page mixing Crate Paper “After Dark” elements with a pack of dimensional stickers by Me and My Big Ideas.

I still use these letter stickers by Bella Blvd. all the time. They were one of their first releases and I ended up with several sheets of them from being on their design team. I’ll be sad when I run out of them one day. I just love the height and width of the font. They are great for adding a bold title in a small space. Here I have layered black letter stickers on top of white letter stickers for a shadow effect.

For this page, I channeled my inner Melissa Stinson. 🙂 I’ve been re-reading her blog lately and find her style and approach to scrapping so inspiring! She recently started blogging again here-and there, and I’m so happy about it. I love her style. It’s different than mine, but it’s fun to “try on” a different style once in awhile and learn from the way other scrappers do things.

I love how Melissa clusters smaller photos together and then frames her page compositions with strips of paper across the top and bottom. I will definitely be adding these “tricks” to my scrappy repertoire to use again. Thank you inspiring me, Melissa!

I still had the Project Life Midnight papers on my desk from the previous layout, and decided to incorporate some of them on this page to tie the two dance pages together visually in our album.

Again, I mixed Crate Paper “After Dark” elements with a Halloween set of Soft Spoken stickers from Me & My Big Ideas. They worked really well together!

On a final note, I thought it would be fun to have a GIVEAWAY! I mean, why should the kids be the only ones to get treats this Halloween, right?! 🙂

I have been cleaning out my scrapbook room and have come across several products that I have purchased twice. Gulp! (Please tell me I’m not the only one!) Crazy me! But LUCKY YOU! Here is a set of embossing folders I’ll be drawing for. (Keep in mind that the large folder will only work in a large format embossing machine … like the Craftwell eBosser, Craftwell Cut N’ Boss, or the Spellbinders Grand Calibur).

To be entered into the drawing, please leave a comment and let me know if there is something you’d like to learn from me or leave me a question you’d like me to answer. Comments will close at Midnight, Thursday, November 5th, 2015. I will announce the winner on Friday, November 6th. (Due to shipping costs, winner will be selected from the contiguous United States. Thanks for understanding.) Good luck!

Have a Happy Halloween! Muaah ahh ahh!

  1. Jana ~ Love ALL your Halloween pages. They are ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!! I LOVE the inspiration I get from your blog … and hope that you are back to posting regularly!! I missed you!!

You are DEFINITELY NOT the only one who buys duplicates … I think it is a trend for ALL hardcore crafters. 🙂

  3. Love all of the detail in your layouts. My question is how do you keep track of which embossing folders (punches, stamps) you already own? I find myself buying duplicates also.

  4. Great pages! I’ve been longing for a woodgrain embossing folder 😉 My question for you: How do you deal with your photos? Do you print as needed for a particular project? Make big photo orders? This is something I’m struggling with.

  5. I guess I’m not eligible for the freebies (being from Alaska and all), but I was going to comment anyways:) It’s so funny that you mention Melissa’s blog because I haunted her blog the way I haunted yours! And you both came back:) I love your layouts because you do double paged layouts and/or layouts with many pictures, which not many people do anymore. I love the Scrappy Jedi blog for the opposite reason. Just as you pointed out, she has smaller photos (and less of them) so I can “borrow” her ideas when I don’t have as many pictures to use. So thank you both for posting again!!

  6. LOL! I think we all buy duplicates occasionally. I love ALL your Halloween pages and love your style of scrapping. My question is: How do you store your double sided paper? I can’t seem to get a handle on that.

  9. So glad to have you back. I love your style, and personally think that cricut needs more Jana pages in their make it now section. I love all the layers of paper you use, but I struggle with choosing paper to use on my pages, especially combining patterned papers. Any tips for this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  10. I’m so happy to see you creating and sharing again! You’re definitely on my favorites list for scrappers I wanna be when I grow up, LOL! Thanks so much for sharing these pages! I love that you usually scrap with multiple pictures. I guess if you could share how you decide which pictures to scrap and how to keep them from looking too busy/cluttered on your pages that would be very good to know! Thanks again for asking and sharing!

  13. Great layouts!! I have always loved the way that you group your photos on the pages and added embellishments without it looking cluttered. Your layouts are truly inspirational!! I have had to move a few times over the last couple of years and am just trying to get my new craft room set up. I am struggling to get back into my creative groove after living like a gypsy for the last little while. Is there something that you do if you ever get into a creative rut to be inspired to create again??

  17. Buying duplicates only means you liked it so much that you when you saw it again you once more knew you had to have it. (We won’t talk about the fact that we forgot we already had it.)

  18. Hi Jana,

    What yummy blog candy!!! 🙂

I’d like to know how you keep your craft room so neat! I am all about the organizing…but then I do a couple of projects or more likely buy too many new supplies and it looks like a bomb went off! 😉

    Thank you so much,
