Live Inspired Guest and a FUN Find!

This past summer I discovered The Scrap Gals podcast show with Tracie Claiborne and Tiffany Lowder. I LOVE listening to their show! It is absolutely delightful! I love that I can listen to it while I am cleaning the house or running errands in the car and still feel like I am being creative. I also love listening while I am scrapping in my office. It’s like being part of a fun conversation at a crop!

Tracie just started another podcast show called Live Inspired. You can only imagine how excited I was when *THE* Tracie Claiborne, that I’ve been enjoying listening to so much all these months, contacted me and invited me to be a guest!

In the show, we chat about my recent decision to simplify the business side of my scrapbooking and get back to what I love most … creating. If you’d like to check it out you can find more information HERE.

Tracie is such a fun and sweet gal and so talented at what she does! She is so warm and inviting. She makes you immediately feel comfortable (even when you are getting used to a mic and keep pausing in weird ways. Ha!) and like you are talking to a lifelong friend. I love that about her! I hope I get the chance to meet her in person some day!

The concept of this new show is BRILLIANT! I love that Tracie is able to get a peek into the creative thoughts of people in the industry. Be sure to check it out!

On Fridays, Tracie creates a follow-up video featuring the work of the person she interviewed and then creates her own page using elements from that person’s work as inspiration. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with! I will link to that tomorrow when her post is up.

This has been a busy week for me! In my church I serve with the youth. On Monday, I had the 8-12 year old girls over to my house to work on a fun fall project (More on that soon! I want to show you what we made, and I took step-by-step photos to share with you!).

And then last night, I helped put together a fun night called “Evening of Excellence” for the teen girls (12 to 18 years old) from our congregation. I work with the most amazing leaders and girls! They planned a Dr. Seuss theme that was so much fun! Even the food was cute!

The program was the perfect balance of fun and whimsy, mixed with inspiration, and feeling the spirit and the love Christ has for each one of us. Each girl stood up and talked about the things they are working on this year in their personal progress. We had a video reminiscing over the activities the girls have participated in throughout the year and then the girls sang the most beautiful song. It was very touching (yes, I cried! 🙂 )I am so grateful to know these people! They make me want to be better every day.

I love getting to know these girls! They teach me so much through their examples and they are a part of my learning in this life. I like to include them in my scrapbooks, when I can. Following are a couple of pages I have made of the girls I have worked with in the past. They continue to be great women and are accomplishing wonderful, meaningful things. I love each one of them and will remember them forever!

FABULOUS

For this page I used an older American Crafts 6×6 paper pad and embellishments from the Soho Garden line. I still love the colors of this collection. The flowers are especially cool! I mixed in some newer stamps and a chipboard word by Heidi Swapp. (Layout based on a Simple Scrapper sketch.) The yellow stars and elements around the page ties everything together.

PHOTOSHOOT

I did a bunch of stashbusting on this layout … most of these products were together in an older Noel Mignon kit I still needed to use up. I still love all of these beautiful products! And I love the way they came together here.

Finally, I have a shopping find to share. Hurry! Someone! Invite me to a crop! Hehe! I found this super-cute rolling bag by Samantha Brown ($69.99) at Tuesday Morning yesterday and it needs to go out on the town! I love the aqua houndstooth, and I love that it is large enough to hold my Cricut or Silhouette Cameo. They also had matching carry-on luggage. Swoon! Other colors I saw were yellow houndstooth, black/white houndstooth, and then a pink/purple/blue mixed houndstooth.

Thanks for letting me share! I hope you are having a creative day. See you again soon!

  4. I had never listened to a podcast about memory keeping before! Such fun to listen in on a wonderful interview. And while I do not miss the teen years, I do miss my boys EVERY day. I still can not believe they are both far away at college. It seems not that long ago that I was carting them around to sports, scouts, and instrument lessons. My wish for you is that you have now found the perfect balance. I feel like I found mine when I switched careers to become a teacher. Thanks for sharing. Your layouts are beautiful, as always!
