Carta Bella Paper: Building a Background with 6×6 Paper Pads

Today I am sharing a vacation layout created with the Carta Bella Paper Are We There Yet? collection.

For this page, I thought it would be fun to use my Silhouette Cameo 3 electronic die cutting machine to die cut a background shape and than back the openings with several of the cute patterns from the 6×6 paper pad.

I used a cut file that I found in the Silhouette store. This particular shape had patterns in the center of each hexagon. I cut the shape from Classic Green Felt Designer Cardstock and then simply used a pair of scissors to cut the pattern away so that each hexagon had a blank opening where I could add the 6×6 patterned papers.

I placed my photo on a polaroid-style mat using a block of Navy Felt Designer Cardstock. To the right of the photo, I added two of the 3×4 cards cut from the 3×4 Journaling Cards paper and National Parks Paper. I then embellished the bottom of the mat, as well as several of the hexagon shapes, with stickers, chipboard shapes, and brads.

Next, I used one of the large hexagons as a home for my title. I added a chipboard piece and enamel shape below the title to punch it up a bit.

I love the way this page turned out with all of the cute patterned papers. I’m definitely going to try this technique on another page soon.

  1. The patterns on your layout are beautiful! We got engaged in San Francisco 30 years ago:) I’m not sure why we never returned to visit with the kids. Might be those hills! LOL! Your layout made it look like a fun trip.
