Stashbusting: Adore

Hello! Today I have a stashbusting scrapbook page to share!

I always pick my best-looking photos for design team assignments … but I have a LOT of memories that keep getting ignored, simply because the photos I have of them are less than stellar. Time to give those photos some love, regardless of how “pretty” they are.

ADORE

The starting point for this page was actually a color scheme. I was looking through an interior design magazine online and came across this stark white room with pops of teal and orange and a dark gray couch. It was stunning! I pulled out those colors along with green and gold and got to work creating the following layout.

Confession: I’m not very skilled at coming up with clever titles … or should I say, I’m lazy about coming up with clever titles. Haha! I was just going to call this one “Sunday BBQ” … but then thought to myself … I have so many word embellishments in my stash … I should browse and find one that will work for this page.

So, I pulled out this gray-stained wood word that says, “adore.” I found this at Michael’s a couple years ago in the dollar section. It was actually sold as a magnet, but the crafter in me saw “page embellishment!”

I added a bit of orange grid paper behind the letter “o” and then added a yellow, chipboard arrow (Studio Calico) in the center to point towards my husband.

I have my embellishments stored by color families. As I was browsing through my “Primary” bin, I came across this leftover chipboard city scene from the Shimelle Go Now Go collection. It looks so cute sitting on top of my title! The kite, stars, and clouds above the buildings are vellum stickers from an older Freckled Fawn Oh Deer Me Monthly Kit.

I wrote my journaling on a Dear Lizzy tag from my stash and then added more chipboard pieces to the left side. The car is from the same Shimelle Go Now Go chipboard embellishment pack and the arrows are by Studio Calico.

The phrase stickers to the left of the car (across the bottom of the photo) are from the Echo Park Paper Note to Self collection (oldie but goodie!).

  1. I just wanted to let you know that even though I don’t comment very often,I look at and study every one of you LO’s and get so much inspiration from them. I take screenshots of my favorites, too! I am curious….do you scrap every day? And do you ever scrap more than one LO in a sitting? Anne

    1. Hello, Anne! Thank you so much for your comment! You are so sweet! I’m glad you are able to find some inspiration here.

I scrapbook almost every weekday while my kids are in school. I am a s.l.o.w. scrapper, so I usually only do one page each time … and sometimes I am extremely indecisive and that one layout is carried over into the next day so that I can think about what I have done so far and make any changes when I come back with fresh eyes. LOL! I also tend to scrap in spurts … layouts for a few days, then 3D projects for a few days, etc. … then take a break for a day or two. Thank you so much for your questions! It’s fun to “talk” to a fellow scrapper!
