This week on the American Crafts blog we are sharing Summer Home Decor ideas. I had so much fun making my project with the New Amy Tangerine Shine On collection. It makes me smile every time I look at it!
I’m always looking for a way to brighten up the shelves in my craft room or my kitchen window sill and this crate of paper cacti plants fit the bill perfectly!
I used a cactus cut file by Paper Zen/Ceclia Louie that I found on Etsy to create this colorful trio and placed all of them together in a paper crate created with a cut file from the Silhouette Design store (#57298). The base of the crate is cut from 12×12 Smooth Kraft cardstock with panels of the Planted paper. I added a border strip cut from The Good Life paper as a decorative accent, and then wrapped white twine around the box several times for a bit of texture.
The flowers on each cactus are cut from 12×12 Textured White cardstock. The Faux Suede Flowers made the perfect flower centers with a fun and textured POP of color!
Wouldn’t this be a fun set to gift to someone?! Add a handwritten Shine On Card and you are ready to go! Or maybe you’d like to use these for your next summer party and place a cactus on each of your place settings with the names of your guests? The flower pot on the bottom is the perfect place to add a treat.
Finish your project by creating plant markers using the blocks from The Good Life paper and the More of This paper. They are quick and simple to make by adhering them to skinny craft sticks.
These cacti have so much personality and were so much fun to make! I hope you grab yourself some of the New Amy Tangerine Shine On papers and make a set for yourself, too!
