Gingerbread House Cartons

Do you have a stash of brown cardstock that needs a little love? Why not make some gingerbread house cartons and fill them with treats as gifts this season? I think these would be so fun for co-workers, or to give to your little friends in the neighborhood. You could even add a loop to the top and use them as Christmas tree ornaments!

I mostly use dark chocolate brown cardstock in my scrapping, but have a lot of this lighter, gingerbread brown hanging out in my stash. I thought I would put it to good use by creating these gingerbread house milk cartons for Christmas.

I cut out a milk carton using the “Milk Carton Favor Box with Handle” cut file by Lori Whitlock (Design #138116 in the Silhouette Design Store) using brown cardstock. I then used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder to add texture to the side panels. To give them a frosted look I rubbed the edges with white ink.

Next, I created a tiled roof by cutting strips of brown cardstock with large scalloped scissors. I fluffed up scallops to give them more dimension, covered them with glue, and then “frosted” them with white glitter.

The windows and doors come from another Lori Whitlock cut file called “3-D Gingerbread House (2 of 3)” (Design #22480). They are part of a larger gingerbread house cut file. I simply resized them to fit my milk carton and I was ready to go!

Last, but not least, I added dimensional foam snowflake stickers  to the roof(bought at Dollar Tree several years ago … but each year they offer them, the ones this year are just a different style of snowflake), a candy cane sticker next to the door, a few foiled domes from my stash, and topped it off with a spray of ribbon and a button tied with twine. They turned out so CUTE!

Fill them with treats for your child’s friends, your co-workers, or girlfriends!
