Dusting Off the Flower Punches

The other day I was poking through the punches in my stash when I came across all of my flower punches. I thought to myself, “Wow! I haven’t used these for awhile!”

I grabbed some scraps I had laying on my desk and spent the next hour punching, curling petals, and combining shapes onto simple brads.

I had forgotten how much I love making paper flowers! It was a blast!

I even created a couple more flowers with my Silhouette Cameo machine.

Next, I grouped them all together on my desk for a quick snapshot. I loved the way they looked so much that right then and there I hot glued them to a card front.

I stamped out a simple sentiment from the Stampin’ Up Remarkable You stamp set … added a few die cut leaves using the Echo Park Spring Flowers Die … and called it good! Simple kraft colored photo corners finish it off.

I left my little creation out on my desk and have been enjoying it ever since!

What tools in your craft room have you been neglecting lately? Pull them out and put them to use … I’m willing to bet that you will have a great time and remember how much you love using them!

Have a great day!

Scrapbook Page: Pulling a Title from Your Journaling

The photos on today’s page were ones that my daughter took on a date for the Halloween dance a couple of years ago. Of course I wasn’t on the date with her, so I had her write the journaling.

I could have gone with the typical “Carving Pumpkins” title for this page, but decided to pull out a unique phrase from my daughter’s journaling instead. The silly phrase, “Toothpick-Toothed Beast” is catchy because it is different … but will also mean more to my daughter because it is something specific pulled from her date.

TOOTHPICK-TOOTHED BEAST

Today’s page features one of my FAVORITE Fall collections this year … the Hello Fall collection by Carta Bella Paper.

I have amassed a HUGE collection of letter stickers. They are one of those things I almost never purge … because, let’s face it … fonts are pretty basic.

However, I have noticed that I typically create my titles on my Silhouette Cameo machine. Simply for the fact that it is EASIER. I can choose a phrase and then size it to fit EXACTLY in the space I have on my page. I LOVE that!

But … because of that … my poor alphabet collection has been neglected. I made a goal to dig into those alphas a bit more throughout the rest of the year … and although the process of putting together the title takes longer … I still really enjoy the look of a mixed alphabet title! AND, it feels good to use what I have!

NOTE: I just have to point out something … how stinkin’ CUTE is that little hedgehog from this collection! ❤ ❤ ❤

I love using journaling strips when there is a lot to say on a page. I can cut them to whatever width I need and get a lot of information in a small space.

I had fun clustering the elements of the Hello Fall collection together in groups around the page. I made sure to add something “shiny” … whether it was an enamel dot, enamel shape, or decorative brad to each group to tie them all together. Varying which embellishment I used in the clusters keeps things interesting to look at.

Layering all kinds of bits together is one of my very favorite things to do!

This page has a light and bright feel about it, but still feels grounded with the brown cardstock strips outlining the different patterned paper sections.

I used the Ticket Tear Border punch by Stampin’ Up to jazz up a couple of those edges and keep things from feeling too boxy.

Carta Bella Paper: Hello Fall Cards

There is something about fall that makes me want to take time to connect with friends and family. Why not send your loved ones a fun fall-themed card in the mail?
Today I have a couple of cards that would be perfect created with the Carta Bella Paper Hello Fall collection.
I couldn’t resist creating a card centered around my favorite tag from the Frames & Tags Ephemera Pack … Yep! The one that says, “I’m Just Here for the Pie.” Haha!

I used the Chestnut Brown Linen Cardstock for my card base and then built up a background of the 3×4 Journaling Cards paper (multi-colored chevron) and Pumpkin Spice Paper. Aren’t those squirrels adorable?!

This next card features the adorable truck from the Hello Fall collection. Just looking at that cute truck makes me want to go on a hay ride through a pumpkin field!

I added a bit of twine and the decorative brads to give this card some texture!

More Shimelle Go Now Go

Happy Thursday, friends! I’m back with two more projects using a homemade kit I put together featuring the Shimelle Go Now Go collection.

CAMP FUN

At this point with my homemade kit I had lots of scraps left … I decided to see if I could layer them up to create a resting spot for some more camping photos. Here is the result!

I had purchased several of these Pebbles sticker sets at the American Crafts Warehouse Sale last year to give to some teenage girls at my church to use in a journaling project. I had a couple of sets left and thought they looked adorable with the Go Now Go paper on this page.

The flowers in the tin can was perfect for these camping photos … it’s a subtle nod to all the times we collect wildflowers and display them on the campground picnic table in a paper cup or left over tin can from dinner. Ha!

My goal was to do what I could to use up as many of the supplies as I could from my homemade kit … including the letters. I really like the way the bright green pops off of the page! I added more of the Pebbles stickers to decorate the open space to the left of the title and sprinkled in my favorite Stampin’ Up Metallic Enamel Shape stickers (seriously! I love these things! I have been using them on EVERYTHING lately!)

A line of red stitching around the edge adds the perfect finishing touch!

“HI” CARD

While I had everything out on my table, I decided to use up what I could by creating a card.

Jana Eubank Stashbuster Hi Card 1 600

I layered together leftover bits of the patterned papers and then added stickers and a sentiment with the chipboard letters.

The result is a cute card I would be proud to give to a friend!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my homemade kit projects these past couple of days. Tomorrow I will be back with a fun back-to-school layout I created for Bella Blvd.

Bye for now!
