Echo Park Paper: Life’s A Picnic!

One of the first things my family loves to do once the weather warms up is to pack up a picnic and head to the local park.
Pass the picnic vibe on to someone else with a treat packaged in this adorable Picnic Basket Favor Box created with the Echo Park Paper Good Day Sunshine collection!

I added a sweet little banner to the basket handle by punching the banner pieces from the Ephemera pack with a 1/16″ hole punch and then threading them together with some twine. Banners always make ordinary occasions feel special, don’t you think?!

Peeking through the holes of the basket on the sides, you can see one of my favorite patterns from this collection … the dark blue floral from the 6×6 paper pad! I will definitely be picking up multiple sheets of it’s 12×12 counterpart … the Festive Floral paper.

I created a cluster on the side of the basket, by layering together Ephemera pieces along with some delicious-looking, chipboard icons. I’m ready to kick back with a tall glass of lemonade on a warm, breezy day … How about you?!

Simple Stories: Hello Sunshine

Hi, Scrappers! I’m up on the Simple Stories blog today with a new page using the Welcome Spring collection.

One of my favorite things about Simple Stories is the beautiful floral papers in each of their collections. I LOVE fussy-cutting out the flowers and using them to decorate my page. Here I have used the flowers from the Hello Spring Paper.

On this page, the flowers are the most colorful thing on the page. I placed them at the top of the page to accent my journaling …

… and at the bottom of the page to call attention to my photo.

A strip of black and white striped paper (Hello Spring paper) anchors the photo and title.

Echo Park Paper: Let’s Get Goofy!

Did you know that Echo Park offers cut files in both Silhouette Studio and SVG formats in the Silhouette Design Store? My layout today features a camera cut file by Echo Park and the Echo Park Paper Wish Upon a Star collection.

I decided to create a large camera icon for my page and then overlap my two photos across the bottom. I cut the camera from Carta Bella Ebony Black Felt Designer Cardstock, Solid Blue/Yellow Coordinating paper, and pattern papers from the 6×6 paper pad.
The main photo is matted with more Ebony Black felt cardstock and the Newsprint paper from the Wish Upon a Star collection. On the right upper corner of my photo I placed a fun little cluster using the “Let’s Get Goofy!” sticker and a few clouds.

To the left of my smaller photo, I added the chipboard Mickey balloon, the “Love This” pennant flag (Frames & Tags Ephemera), a few chipboard stars, and a shiny enamel dot.

I applied the “FUN” rub on phrase to white cardstock and then used fine-tipped scissors to cut out the letters. I added it to the bottom of the chipboard castle as a fun title for my page.

I’m ready to head back to the “Happiest Place on Earth” soon after creating this page! How about you?!

PageMaps Sketch: You Are My Guitar Hero

The beginning of a new month means more new sketches from PageMaps! I love the surge of inspiration I feel each month when I see what the designers have created with Becky’s sketches. Here is the page I created for April.

YOU ARE MY GUITAR HERO

For this page, I pulled out some papers from the Photo Play Fresh Picked collection that I purchased last year and mixed them with some items from my stash. (A few of the papers are still available at Scrapbook.com. You will find links to them at the bottom of this post, if you are interested.)

I used the wood plank Farm Fresh paper as the background because it repeated the wood door that is behind my son in the photos.

I then used white cardstock matted with the Fresh Flowers plaid paper.

I anchored my title on a Project Life transparency card with a blue speech bubble on it. Unfortunately, I do not remember which collection this is from, but if you like this look, you can always recreate it with a swash of paint … or try printing your own transparency using some clip art.

As you know, I love fussy-cutting florals … they are becoming a “must-have” on almost any page I do lately! Even though this page is about my son, they still work!

I wanted to add some dimensional accents to this page, and decided to go with wood veneer because they matched the color of my son’s guitar in the photos. I have so much wood veneer in my stash! I really need to put it to use more often!

I’m not sure who the manufacturer of the wood letters are, but the arrows and hearts are by Studio Calico. The wood buttons are oldies-but-goodies by BasicGrey.

The “tag” peeking out from behind the journaling block actually isn’t a tag at all! It is actually a label sticker. I simply punched a hole in it and added a silver eyelet using my WRMK Cropadile. (Yes … I still like using eyelets! *wink*)

I love creating with Becky’s sketches each month. Which one will you choose to create with during April?
