Simple Stories: Explore

Hello! Today I am sharing a scrapbook page using the Simple Stories Travel Notes collection. My kids are out of school and we are getting excited to head out on our summer family vacation. To get me in the mood to go, I have been scrapping past vacation photos. Today’s layout features our summer family vacation from four years ago when we visited the wonderful city of San Francisco!

I had a blast creating a scene at the top of my layout using a cut out of the hot air balloon from the 6×8 Pad. I layered a few phrase stickers (Combo Stickers) below the banner phrase and the chipboard airplane above. The chipboard airplane gets the sparkly treatment with several gems from my stash. I also added some die cut clouds and a sun!

This little cluster on the left side of the page features several die cuts from the Bits & Pieces pack. That little postcard and compass are adorable!

I die cut another cloud for the bottom of the page from the light blue ledger paper in the 6×8 Pad to anchor a cluster of more stickers and die cuts. A stack of suitcases look so cute on this vacation page!

The large fussy-cut hot air balloon overlaps onto my page title in the center of the page. I placed the chipboard script “Explore” word on a strip of yellow cardstock with a dovetailed end. I then placed typed journaling below the title on the right side of the page.

I hope my layout has inspired you to get scrapping YOUR summer vacation memories with the Travel Notes collection! Have fun!

Carta Bella Paper: Exploring and Discovering the World with the Passport Collection

My daughter spent the past three months on a Study Abroad program with her university visiting England, France, and Italy. She had a blast! This was one of the first selfies she sent home and I just had to scrapbook it using the amazing Passport collection by Carta Bella Paper!

I layered a strip of the red and blue “Air Mail” striped Tourist Class Paper along with a border sticker across the top left and bottom right corners of the page. At the top I clustered together a few stickers and chipboard accents.

I cut out a few of the horizontal cards from the Journaling Cards paper and layered them behind my photo. I added a chipboard airplane to the top right corner of the photo along with a few die cut clouds created with the Spread Sunshine Die Set.

A couple of tags peek out on the left side of the photo!

I used two word stickers layered together to create the title for the page. To the left, I created a fun cluster using the globe and suitcase chipboard stickers.

The green London tag indicates the first city my daughter visited! I added the “Here” chipboard sticker to let the viewer know.

I have never been to Europe, but I hope to go someday. Have you?! Have you recorded your memories from that trip? Why not use the amazing Passport collection to get started?

June PageMaps: XOXO

Hello! There are NEW sketches up at PageMaps for the month of June. Yay! I always love being inspired by Becky Fleck’s sketches! They are especially perfect during the summer months, when you want to keep creating, but don’t want to expend too much mental power thinking about where to start on a page … just pick a sketch, print a few pictures, and run with it!

Here is my page for this month!

I pulled out the Simple Stories Romance collection for this page of my daughter and her last Valentine’s Day box (sniff, sniff). I mirrored the sketch to match the direction my daughter was facing in the photo, so that she would be facing the title and other photos.

I used a large fussy-cut flower, and a clock trimmed from the 4×4 Elements paper to represent the circle in the sketch.

I then placed my title across the top of the smaller photos. The chipboard title had lots of pattern, and to help it stand out against the pattern of the background paper, I matted each letter with blue glitter paper.

Your eye starts at the top of this page, travels down through the title and supporting photos, to the journaling … to keep your eye from “falling off” the edge of the page, I used a couple of chipboard arrows to point inwards towards the journaling, and back towards the focal photo.

Summer is a time to be outside and make memories, but that doesn’t mean you have to fall behind on your memory keeping! Challenge yourself to grab a few photos, and use a few of Becky’s sketches at PageMaps this month to keep your creative mojo flowing!

Echo Park Paper: Let’s Be Mermaids Card

When I was a girl, I would spend hours upon hours during the summer splashing around in our hot tub pretending to be a mermaid. Those were magical, carefree days! Wouldn’t it be fun to steal your friends away and head out on a mermaid adventure for the day?
Let your bestie know that is exactly what you want to do with this card created with the Echo Park Paper Mermaid Tales collection … and then make some fun plans and actually DO it! Why not?!!! Find a reason to do it! *wink*

I had fun layering the patterns together and then creating a detailed cluster of sea flowers and sea horses on the left side of the 3×4 Journaling Card.

The mermaid on the right is the star and looks ready for a day of relaxation with her friends! Grab your friends and do something fun … even if it’s just relaxing in the backyard sunbathing with a cold drink and great conversation!
