Carta Bella Paper: Counting Down with a Christmas Tree!

This week we are sharing advent calendar ideas on the Echo Park Paper blogv. I chose to create mine out of one of my very favorite Carta Bella products … the designer cardstock! It’s usually a part of every project I do here for the blog, but this time I wanted to make it the focus!
I found this darling cut file in the Silhouette design store and knew that the Evergreen Shimmer cardstock would make the perfect base for this tree. It’s hard to capture just how beautiful the sheen is on these papers with a camera, but trust me! They are the perfect choice for all of your holiday projects.

In addition to having a beautiful shimmery surface, this cardstock boasts a 111 lb. weight! It’s very sturdy and makes a great base for dimensional projects like this one … cardmakers will swoon over it’s weight, too!

Let’s take a closer look at this project, shall we! In addition to the Evergreen Shimmer cardstock, I also used the Gold Shimmer and Ruby Red Shimmer to create ornaments and a star for the tree. For each day in December, add an ornament to the tree. There is a spot for exactly 25 ornaments.
If you look closer at the star and jingle bells you can see that I added dimensional details with yellow pearl paint.

I also used the gold and ruby red cardstocks to create gifts for under the tree. The red gift bag holds all of the ornaments until they are ready to be placed on the branches. When the big day finally arrives, you or your child can open the small gift as one of your Christmas presents! The bow on this gift was created using the Mini 3D Bow die.

In addition to the cardstock, I used the Christmas Dots & Stripes 6×6 paper pad and colorfully, striped baker’s twine for more pattern and interest. Some of the ornaments are decorated with gems and die cut stars and snowflakes (Snowflake #6 Die Set). I added some Liquid Pearls (Buttercup) to the jingle bell for more dimension.

The gold shimmer cardstock tree stand rests on a gorgeous tree skirt cut from the Red Holly & Berries Gold Foil cardstock.

This sweet, little tree measures 16″ tall. It’s the perfect size to place on a desk, dresser, or adorning an empty corner on a counter. You are sure to feel the holiday spirit as you decorate it each day!

Echo Park Paper: Christmas Card

I love card designs that are different from the standard folded card base. Today’s project features a tag tucked inside of a pocket that would make a fun invitation to a holiday party, or an interactive Christmas Card with your family’s photo and sentiment tucked inside. Let’s take a closer look!

I created this project using Echo Park Paper’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas collection. (Be sure to take notice of all of the GORGEOUS hand-painted artwork in both Volume I and Volume II of this collection!)

The tag was cut with my Silhouette Cameo machine from the Dark Red/Cream Solid Cardstock using the “3 Tags” cut file by Lori Whitlock (Design #46903 in the Silhouette Design Store). The top of the tag is adorned with a wreath die cut and a “Merry Christmas” sticker banner.

The pocket for the tag was cut using the Christmas Time Paper (How cute is that Christmas plaid?!) and the “Library Pocket” cut file by Silhouette (Design #4301 in the Silhouette Design Store). I added some manually die cut branches to the front using the A Perfect Christmas Be Merry Branch Die Set and the Classic Green Felt Cardstock before adding the other elements.

Be sure to check out the Echo Park Paper Instagram feed HERE for a one-minute project video featuring this card!

Echo Park Paper: The Cookies Were Hung by the Chimney with Care

Delivering delicious, homemade treats to neighbors and friends is one of those iconic holiday traditions that I adore. If you are going to take the time to take a treat, why not package them in an adorable way while you are at it?!

I used the Dk. Blue/Gold Solid Paper for the bottom of the box, and then created the top with patterned papers from the Volume 2 Collection.
The window allows a peek inside to the homemade goodies. You can use several types of materials for the window; re-purposed clear packaging, a sheet protector, or a transparency. I chose to use a heavy-weight clear presentation report cover. These can be purchased at your local office supply or copy store.

The top of the stocking is decorated with die cuts from the Ephemera and Frames & Tags Ephemera packs. I also used the Jolly Branch Trio Die set to cut several pine branches from a green 6×6 patterned paper. They look so festive mixed in with the poinsettia and greenery handcut from the Berry Christmas paper.

The die cuts have added dimension with a few of the small chipboard word stickers and the shiny enamel dots. The gold glitter enamel dot made the perfect flower center for the poinsettia!

At the bottom of the stocking I created a pennant strip from 6×6 patterned papers to anchor the “Noel” chipboard piece. A couple of handcut pinecones from the Berry Christmas paper are the perfect accents!

Everyone loves homebaked goods during the holidays! This stocking box would be the perfect way to deliver them. I hope you feel inspired to create your own holiday treat packaging!

Harvest Happiness for Your Home

Do you enjoy adding homemade touches to your seasonal or home decor? Greet your guests as they arrive to your home for Thanksgiving dinner this year with a beautiful Fall wreath hanging on your front door. Or try hanging it across a mirror or mantle.

You will need a package of Fall Leaf Die Cut Shapes (34115) by American Crafts, an old dictionary, a wreath form, and your hot glue gun. Let’s get creating!

I purchased an old dictionary at my local donation center for just a few dollars. I used a pair of scissors to cut several simple leaf shapes out of the book pages.

Next, I used a glue gun to add the leaves to a grapevine wreath form. First, I lightly rolled/folded the Fall Leaf Die Cut Shapes into a cone and adhered them to the wreath form, making sure I distributed the colors evenly. Then, I filled in the spaces in between the colorful leaves with the neutral bookpaper leaves.

I used my electronic die cutting machine to cut several branch shapes from 12×12 Chocolate Textured Cardstock (71047) and adhered them here-and-there around the wreath to add a bit of variety.

The final step was to top my creation off with a burlap ribbon bow. I love the way it turned out! I will be hanging this in my hallway across the front of a mirror for a bit of fall flair!
