Scrapbook Process Video: February SCT Sampler

Yay! It’s the weekend! What are you up to? Are you sneaking in a little scrapbooking or crafting? I hope so!

I recently subscribed the the SCT Sampler by Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine. I thought this small kit would be a fun way to get a few new things each month without breaking the bank and without having to think about it. And, let’s be honest, getting a fun scrappy pack of goodies each month is a BLAST!

I challenged myself to USE the items before my next Sampler arrived and I managed to accomplish that both months so far. Yay! I created two layouts with the kit and today I will be sharing the first one featuring the Pinkfresh Studio ‘Let’s Stay Home collection.

(Watch for my second layout next week sometime!)

Watch the video below to see my process!

TODAY

I broke up the straight edges of the squares in the background with a cluster of hexagons. I used this hexagon punch.

Thanks for coming by!

Simple Stories: Bloom Process Video

Have you seen the NEW Bunnies & Blooms collection from Simple Stories? Even if you don’t have any Easter or Spring photos to scrapbook, the florals and ‘B’ side patterns make this collection a must-have! I am using it today to scrapbook these photos of my daughter and I enjoying lunch together at her elementary school for her birthday.

NOTE: Scroll down if you’d like to watch the process video for this layout!

Some page designs come together quickly for me, while others are a struggle. This was one of those pages that practically put itself together. LOVE when that happens! You can watch my process in the video below.

I thought the ‘Bloom’ title worked well for this birthday layout, since my daughter was blooming into a young lady. ūüôā I love the floral accents on the title pieces in this collection. This piece is from the Chipboard Stickers, but you can find even more in the pack of Foam Stickers. Yay!

The chipboard title, rose and butterflies add dimension to this project, but to add even more pizazz mix in additional dimensional embellishments like the shiny decorative brads and enamel dots.

The machine stitching and distressed paper edges add texture.

Within the last year Simple Stories has added ‘Tags’ and ‘Journal Elements’ papers to their line-up of cut apart sheets with each collection. I love the journaling options this gives for scrapbook pages. I almost always use a journal spot to write the details on my layouts. That way, if I mess up writing the information, I’m not ruining my entire page. I simply cut out another one and try again! And there are so many different styles, colors, and sizes to choose from on a single sheet. Awesome!

Isn’t the Bunnies + Blooms collection beautiful?! Would you use it to scrapbook Spring or Easter photos? Or would you use it as an ‘everyday’ collection like I did here? Tell me in the comments below!

Have a great day!

Simple Stories Sweet Talk: Waffle Love

Have you ever challenged yourself to use a holiday collection to create an everyday layout? The Sweet Talk collection by Simple Stories is definitely geared towards Valentine’s Day with it’s lovey-dovey sentiments and puns; however, the cute patterns and addition of the colors coral, blush, and mint make it suitable for everyday memories as well.

Watch the process video below to see how this layout came together

WAFFLE LOVE

This page features a photo of two of my daughters out having waffles together. The heart shaped waffle sticker from the Cardstock Sticker sheet made the perfect accent. Infact, I used it to replace the letter ‘o’ in my title.

I used a sheet of Mint Color Vibe cardstock for the background. This soft color goes with everything and is the perfect neutral for so many collections! The cardstock has a light, felt texture to it giving it a luxurious feel, however, the texture isn’t too bumpy to write your journaling on. I LOVE that!

The patterns of the Sweet Talk collection are so pink and girly … perfect for this photo of my daughters!

Pull out your Valentine’s Day papers and scrapbook a holiday photo you took this year, scrapbook why you love someone or something, OR use them to create an everyday layout like this one I shared with you today.

Have fun!

Simple Stories: Hello Today Layout

Hello, friends! I’ve been playing with the¬†Hello Today collection¬†and wanted to share my latest layout with you! This collection¬†is bursting with color and happiness! It reminded me of the silly-fun my two daughters have together, so I chose to work with these selfies they snapped one day while out running errands together.

I used a sheet of¬†Mint Color Vibe cardstock¬†as the base of my layout. I printed the photos in black and white to really let the cheerful colors and patterns of the¬†Hello Today collection¬†shine. Aren’t they amazing?!

I matted each photo with a different patterned paper, then stacked up snippets of other patterns and Element cards behind the photos to create one large, layered photo mat.

Next, I cut out several label shapes from the Element card side of each paper to use for my journaling. I was so happy when I realized I had a rainbow of labels to use! I stacked them up in rainbow order to the side of my photos. This allowed space for a longer block of journaling.

Instead of a title, I chose to fussy-cut my daughters’ initials from the monthly¬†Element Cards. I accented the monograms with more fussy-cut designs. I finished off each cluster with a few¬†Enamel Dots¬†and stamped asterisks from the¬†Hello Today 6×8 Clear Stamp.

The result is a super-FUN page that makes me smile! I had a blast playing with this collection and I know you will, too!

See you next time!
