Simple Stories: Hoppy Easter Double-Page Layout

I tend to get snap-happy with my camera on holidays and always have many photos I love and want to include in our scrapbooks. Two-page layouts to the rescue! This Easter layout today is created with the darling Simple Stories Bunnies & Baskets Simple Set. Check it out below!

I placed my photos in two rows, but wanted to call more attention to the group shot of my kids. I matted this photo with yellow cardstock, and then placed it on a block of The Hunt Is On paper, with it’s cute Easter egg pattern. In the corner I added a cluster of stickers accented with a button.

I fussy-cut the large characters and icons from the 3×4 & 4×6 Elements Paper to use for my layout. They are the perfect scale for a double-page spread! I also used the journal card to house my journaling on the left page.

I wanted my title to really stand out and decided to create a little scene with the bunny and basket next to the “Hoppy Easter” sticker. I die cut a sunburst on my electronic die cutting machine to place behind the bunny, anchoring all of the elements together in one cluster.

Before adding the sunburst to the page, I used my sewing machine to zig-zag stitch along each ray, creating lots of texture! Manually die cut clouds and enamel star stickers from my stash round everything out.

Finally, I added this cute chick in the bottom right corner of the layout with more die cut clouds and a phrase sticker from the 6×12 Sticker Sheet.

Echo Park Paper: Baby Girl Bathtub Gift Set

Welcoming a new baby into the world is so much fun! After a ten year spread, I just became an aunt again. Isn’t that exciting?!!

When I was thinking about what kind of project to create with the new Echo Park Paper Hello Baby Girl collection, I thought about one of my favorite things about newborn babies … how clean and sweet they smell after having their bath! So, I decided to create a Bath Tub Gift set that any new parent is sure to appreciate.

I cut the bathtub from the star patterned side of the Girl Clothesline paper using my Silhouette Cameo and a cut file by Snapdragon Snippets (Design #267555 in the Silhouette Design Store). I then lined it with the yellow side of the Girl Alphabet Blocks paper. The rim and feet of the bathtub are created from the Light and Dark Pink papers of the Hello Baby Girl Solids Kit.

I decorated the side of the tub with a cute phrase fussy-cut from the 3×4 Journaling Cards paper. I added a die cut teddy bear using the Sweet Teddy Bear Die Set along with a few stickers from the Element Sticker Sheet. Enamel dots add dimension to the feet of the tub.

Next, I added my goodies to the inside of the tub. First, I filled it with white paper shred, then added an assortment of baby washcloths, baby lotion, baby wash, baby shampoo, and diaper rash cream.

I trimmed the pointy end from a couple of bamboo skewers, and then tucked them in among the goodies to create a banner across the top of the tub. The “BABY” pennant shapes are from the Ephemera pack. I punched the triangular pennants from the Onesies paper, then strung them all together on white twine between the two bamboo posts. Anything looks more festive with a banner, don’t you agree?!

Wrap the entire tub in cellophane for gift-giving, or place the tub on a cake plate for a cute centerpiece for a baby shower! Either way, the new mom in your life is going to love having some new baby bath supplies on hand!

Doodlebug Design: Life is Like a Box of Chocolates

Like most people, I have a deep weakness for chocolate, so of course I love all of the adorable images of chocolates in the French Kiss collection!

A couple of years ago my son went to a high school Halloween Dance with his date dressed as Forrest Gump and Jenny. I took these cute pictures of him before he left and decided to use the Chocolate Box Shape Sprinkles and the Box of Chocolates digital cut file to recreate a larger version of the Sweetheart Doodlepop sticker from the collection.

I measured the chocolate shape sprinkles and then resized the Box of Chocolates cut file to fit them. It was so much fun filling up my heart shaped box! If only I could take a taste! They look so delicious!

I used the Lily White Abigail Letter Stickers to spell out my title. I placed the top half of the title on vellum clouds created with the Clouds cut file. I resized and reproportioned the banner from the Boy In Airplane cut file to house the word “chocolate.”

I added more vellum clouds to the top of the layout along with a few Heart Throb Shape Sprinkles. So cute!

I placed one of my photos on the red card from the French Kiss Cards & Envelopes. I love the way the bracket shape adds a fun design element to this part of the layout. I tucked in a few flower and chocolate die cuts from the Odds & Ends pack in the lower corner and then added a few Chit Chat phrases to the bottom.

I loved playing with the cute chocolate images in this collection so much! Next, I think I will make a page documenting my LOVE of chocolate. What will you use them for?

Simple Stories: Snow Angels

When I think back to the winter days of my childhood, I fondly remember playing for what seemed like hours out in the snow. Now that I am a mom, I realize that I probably was only out there for about 20 minutes before I came back inside for a mug of hot cocoa. Ha! At least, that is the way it has been when my children were little.
For today’s page, I pulled out some older photos of my girls frolicking in the snow in our yard. The Simple Stories Freezin’ Season collection complimented their brightly-colored snowsuits perfectly!

Even though my journaling for this page is a bit snarky, I assure my girls that I still love them “snow much” with this cute banner die cut from the Bits & Pieces pack. I stitched around the edges of the paper layers with black thread to tie them in with the black lines of the adorable hand drawn art in this collection.

I love this chipboard snowglobe with it’s cozy little house. Looking at the wisp of smoke coming from the chimney makes me think of the smell of chimney smoke outside on a cold winter day! I added the pair of snowmen, fussy-cut from one of the 4×4 Elements cards, to mimic my girls in the photo.
jana eubank simple stories freezin season snow angels layout 3 600
I created the title “Snow Angels” by combining the “SNOW” sticker word, with the die cut word “angels.” I used my electronic die cutting machine to cut out the word on two different colors of cardstock with the Lettering Delights Xiphoid Script font.
Next, I used large circle punches to create the journal spot and then accented it with pine trees cut from the 4x4 Elements cards and a pair of snowflake circle die cuts from the Bits & Pieces Pack.
jana eubank simple stories freezin season snow angels layout 4 600
I love scrapbooking photos of my kids playing in the snow and need to make a point to get out there this winter with my camera. Have you snapped any winter photos lately?
