Busy Summer … Lovin’ It!

Oh, boy . . . has it seriously been a month since I posted here. GULP! No wonder my sister was getting on me about my blog last night when we were chatting. (Hi, Leslee!) Well, hopefully, you haven’t noticed too much because you are having a busy summer as well. :) Just know that I have been hanging out with my family making summer memories that are sure to be scrapped soon. Here is what we have been up to!

In June we took a Road Trip . . . no plan . . . just packed up the RV and let the road take us where it may. It was sooooo much fun! We visited beautiful Twin Falls and McCall, Idaho.

Camryn celebrated her 6th birthday.

We went on a 4th of July picnic in the Canyon.

And rocked out at a Beach Boys concert the night of July 4th. (Seriously!!!! What an AWESOME concert!!!!)

I’ve been doing lots of scrapping, too! Lots of CHA stuff that I will have to wait to show you, but I have also been creating other things that I will share over the next several days.

Today I’ll share with you a page I created for My Mind’s Eye recently.

This page featured the 6 x 6 papers from the My Mind’s Eye Nostalgia collection.I also used the chipboard elements and decorative brads.

The asterisk shape was cut using my Cricut Expression 2 machine and the Alphalicious cartridge. The artisan label shape is from the Accent Essentials cartridge.

I created my own journal spot using the ledger paper from the paper pad. I added stamps from the Follow Your Heart Be Amazing collection for a bit more color. LOVE that cute bicycle stamp!

I also created a Vacation page using the My Mind’s Eye Indie Chic Ginger collection.

I can NOT write small for the life of me . . . so several years ago I created a font of my handwriting at Fontifier.com. It cost $9 and comes in handy when I want to add a lot of information on in a small space, but still include the personal touch of my own handwriting.

Thanks for being patient with me this past month! I will try and do better throughout the rest of the summer. Stay tuned for more projects and CHA work! I can’t wait to share with you the new paper collections I have been playing with!

Happy Scrapping!

First Loose Tooth

***SCROLL DOWN TO NEXT POST for the YouLoveDeals.com GIVEAWAY!***

Camryn lost her first tooth back in November and took these super silly photos of herself using my iPhone. I crack up everytime I see these camera-distorted close-up photos of her mouth and just had to scrap them! This was the page I created to go along with my sketch for the March My Mind’s Eye Newsletter. Check out the other designers’ takes on my sketch in the My Mind’s Eye March Newsletter here.

I can’t stop swooning over the My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline collection! I chose this adorable yellow doily paper from the Dolled Up range to use with this open space sketch design, because it is just too cute to cover up with anything else!

The title was created using my Cricut Expression 2 machine. The tooth comes from the A Child’s Year cartridge. The “First Tooth” phrase is from the Baby Steps cartridge. I added the word “loose” over the phrase to make it fit my page topic. I embellished the letter “o’s” with the Miss Caroline glazed brads for a fun twist! The word “Tooth” is embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder using my Cuttlebug machine. The title is anchored on a pinked edge layered circle that I cut using the Cake Basics cartridge.

I love that My Mind’s Eye released more baker’s twine to go along with the Miss Caroline collection. The colors they are putting out are simply SCRUMPTIOUS!!! They also released a set of rubons with this collection! I adhered the butterfly rubons to cream cardstock, and then cut them out to use as dimensional embellishments on my page. The decorative brad packs offer such a delicious variety of brads. I find myself wanting to sprinkle them on every page that I create.

I hope you are enjoying a glorious weekend! It’s actually starting to feel a little bit like SPRING here today! Warm and sunny! I really ought to get out with the kids and enjoy it a bit.

Have a great weekend!

OH! And don’t forget! . . . The GIVEAWAY listed below closes tomorrow night . . . be sure to leave a comment to be entered!

A Valentine Page with Noel Mignon Charm School Kit

For Valentine’s Day, my daughter’s Kindergarten class learned all about the way a post office works. They practiced learning their addresses by creating their own mailboxes with their house number on it, and then learned how to address an envelope with that house number, stamp, sort, cancel, and deliver the valentines to each “mailbox.” Camryn had such a great time learning . . . I think her class’ favorite part of the lesson was stamping and cancelling the valentines. It was funny to see each envelope stamped a gazillion times on the outside so that each student had the opportunity to experience the postal process. :)

I love that Noel Mignon kits come with more than one set of alphabets in each kit. I love mixing them for a more interesting title. This time around, I also added a die cut word using my Cricut Expression 2 machine. The word “Love” is from the Victorian Romance cartridge. I also added an image of a postmark from the Creative Memories Traveler cartridge to go behind my title and emphasize the theme of this page.

I also cut out a spot for my journaling using my Cricut and the From the Kitchen cartridge. Next I added all kinds of borders, stickers, and tags from the Noel Mignon Charm School Kit. So many fun goodies in there!

Initially, my design was “floating” in the middle of the page. At the last second, I decided to add a strip of patterned paper underneath everything to “anchor” it down visually. Something I find fun to do is trying out the different options to see how ONE pattern can change the entire feeling of a page. I decided to go with a red strip, to emphasize the Valentine colors of red/pink (to go along with my topic), but another choice I almost went with was the other side of the red paper, with it’s printed Kraft design. It had a softer more monochromatic feeling. Take a look!

Which one do you like better? :)

See you again soon!

Blessings & a Gift Bag

The NEW Cricut Craft Room Exclusives digital cartridges have been posted for this week, and I created two projects to showcase a couple of the cartridges: Photo Corners and European Tour.

I used this photo for my daughter’s baptism invitations last fall, but had yet to scrapbook it. I decided that one of the beautiful photo corners from the NEW Photo Corners Craft Room Exclusive cartridge would make an elegant accent for this page. I decided to go with a monochromatic color scheme and pulled papers from all different ranges of My Mind’s Eye collections. I used Fun Day Kraft Day, Lost & Found, and Lost & Found 2. The gems (LOVE the colors!) are from the Fun Day Kraft Day collection.

Cricut Machines Used: Cricut Expression 2 Electronic Cutting Machine, Cricut Craft Room
Cricut Cartridges Used: Photo Corners (Cricut Craft Room Exclusive), Cricut Craft Room Basics (background), Cindy Loo (title), Bridal Shower (Tag/Pocket)
Other Supplies: Cardstock (cream, dark brown), Patterned Paper (My Mind’s Eye), Ribbon (CostCo, Unknown), Eyelet (American Crafts), Gems (My Mind’s Eye), Flowers (Bella Blvd.), Adhesives (Scotch)

The second digital cartridge I played with was European Tour. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to do with this cartridge when I first got the assignment because I have never in my life been to Europe (although I hope to someday). After pondering it for awhile, I decided that the images reminded me a lot of travel stickers that you could stick on a trunk or suitcase. So, I created a suitcase with the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More digital cartridge and the Stand & Salute cartridge. The Father’s Day sentiment was cut from the Wild Card cartridge.

This bag would also be a lot of fun to hold a mini album or photos of your travels to Europe. :)
