Echo Park Paper: Hello Easter Paper Sugar Egg

As a child I was always fascinated by the details captured inside of sugar eggs and have always thought it would be fun to create one out of paper. I couldn’t wait to give it a try with the new Hello Easter collection by Echo Park Paper!

I used my Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine and a cut file by My Scrap Chick to cut out the pieces for the egg (If you don’t own an electronic cutting machine, the purchase of the file also includes a PDF template).
The base of the egg is constructed using the beautifully, sturdy Ultra White Felt Designer Cardstock (my FAVORITE white cardstock!). I then cut the inner decorative panels from the pink bunny patterned paper (4×4 Journaling Cards paper), and the outer decorative panels using the Hoppy Easter paper.
Next, I placed a foam block and bright green Easter grass inside the egg. I then used the cute elements from the Chipboard Accents to create the scene inside. The pieces are attached to skinny, flat craft sticks that I stuck into the foam. The bunny and chick look like they are having so much fun searching for their Easter eggs!

I even added a banner sticker (Element Sticker sheet) going across the top of the inside of the egg for a party feel! You can catch a glimpse of it here in this photo.

I cut the frame pieces to go around the opening of the egg from Ultra White Felt Designer Cardstock and the Yellow/Green Solid paper from the Hello Easter Solids Kit. I used a small flower punch to add another layer of flowers on top of the floral border included with the cut file fore more dimension. I then finished off each flower with a pink gem center.
At the bottom of the sugar egg opening, I placed the “Hello Easter” die cut (Ephemera) matted with Lt. Pink/Dk. Pink Solid paper (Hello Easter Solids Kit). I tucked the floral chipboard piece to the left, and a few flower and carrot stickers (Element Sticker Sheet) to the right).

For the top of the egg, I used the Lt. Pink/Dk. Pink Solid paper again to create a bow from 0.5″ x 12″ paper strips. I simply looped a variety of lengths together to form the bow and then secured them together with a brad. The tails of the bow are curled the same way you would curl curling ribbon … by using the edge of a flat tool (like a bone folder) instead of a pair of scissors.
I adorned the center of the bow with a die cut flower created with the Flower Die Set #4. The center of the flower sparkles and shines with a bright blue, sparkly gem brad from the Sweet Baby Boy Decorative Brads.
