And this month is my turn to provide the sketch. I hope you’ll come and play along with us! Here is the sketch.
And here is my resulting page using the June 2013 Scraptastic Club Carry On Kit and Add-On.
The chevrons totally remind me of the tread on a bike tire … perfect for this page of my son and his bike.
I embossed the red cardstock piece using my Cuttlebug machine and a Cuttlebug folder called Relly Rave (sorry, I was unable to find a link on the Cricut.com site).
Stop on by the Scraptastic Club Blog to see what the other designers did with the sketch!
See you soon!
This month it was my turn to create the sketch for Scraptastic Club’s Sketchy Thursday Challenge. I thought I would also share it here on my blog along with my page, and if you’d like to play along for a chance at winning the prize, be sure to link up your photos on the appropriate post on the Scraptastic Blog HERE.
Here is the sketch I made.
And here is the coordinating page I created using elements mostly from the April 2013 Awake My Soul Add-On Kit. I hand cut the doilies and ticket-shaped blocks from the Teresa Collins papers included in the kit and clustered them around my column of photos. I love the way it came together.
I hope you’ll come play along with us! Have a great weekend!
Yesterday on the BasicGrey Blog my assignment was to use an awesome card sketch by Susan Stringfellow to inspire a layout design. I hadn’t done this in awhile and had so much fun with it! Here is Susan’s sketch I worked from.
And here is the resulting page using the BasicGrey True Love collection. You can see that I followed the sketch pretty closely, but expanded it a bit to fit a 12 x 12 format.
I grouped my photos together in one large rectangle, just like the large rectangle in the center of the sketch. For my background I replaced the strip on the right hand side with a series of patterned paper strips stacked on top of each other. This is a great way to use up paper scraps!
The heart in the sketch really caught my attention and I decided to replicate it on my layout as a page accent. I stacked two chipboard hearts together and then used a chipboard tag, a bottlecap sticker, and a design trimmed from the Snippets to recreate the row of notched paper strips.
BasicGrey design team member, Waleska Neris, also created a layout from Susan’s sketch. Come see her take on it! I love what she made. 🙂
Have a great day!
I have a new sketch to share with you today! I created this one for the February My Mind’s Eye Newsletter. Check out the other designers’ versions of the sketch by clicking here to view the February Newsletter.
This page features the NEW My Mind’s Eye On the Bright Side Two papers. I LOVE that the new collections have that cool rustic barnwood looking paper mixed in with the other patterns. It adds such a great feeling of texture!
I hand cut the large pennant strips going down the right side of the page and then used my Cricut Expression 2 machine and the Something to Celebrate Cartridge to cut the smaller pennants. The pearl accent layered over the punched circle is from the NEW My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline Dolled Up collection. Soooo many fun, new embellishments in that line!
I’ll be back next time with the rest of the projects I created for the My Mind’s Eye CHA booth using their new collections.
See you soon!
