Echo Park Paper: USA Layout

Today I have a layout featuring lots of stars and stripes with the Echo Park Paper Celebrate America Collection.
My daughter had the opportunity last summer to march in a local 4th of July parade representing her Junior High. This layout features a few shots of her before heading out on the parade route.

I decided to use a quadrant design for my page, placing the photos diagonally from one another. I used the remaining two quadrants for page decoration, a title, and journaling.

I framed out the quadrant with borders on all four sides. At the top of the page, I layered together several strips of patterned papers, including a fussy-cut patriotic swag border from the Patriotic Banners paper.
This little cluster of elements decorates the top left corner of the page. The “Stars & Stripes” sticker is accented with a small flag cut from the Liberty Paper and some layered star die cuts (Dream Big Die Set).

When I need larger elements to fill the spaces on my page, I always turn to the journaling cards to see what I can fussy-cut with my scissors. Here I used Evergreen Shimmer Designer Cardstock to create a grassy hill for the barn cut out from the 4×4 Journaling Cards Paper. Firework stickers fill the night sky! I added a few firecrackers next to the barn, too. One of them is “lit” with a punched flower, to look like it has a spark.

At the bottom of the page I added another fussy-cut element, the jar of flowers from the 3×4 Journaling Cards paper. I added a title cut on my Silhouette Cameo machine using the Splash Gingham paper. I cut the title multiple times so that I could layer the letters with foam squares for more dimension. I finished the title by underscoring it with another fussy-cut banner, again, from the Patriotic Banners paper.

Journaling Cards aren’t just for pocket pages or cards … try cutting out the elements to use on your scrapbook pages, too!

Simple Stories: July 4th Two-Pager

I love getting together with family, but one of the scrapbooking struggles that come from family events is deciding how to create a layout with the many snapshots.

My go-to technique in situations like this are two things … 1) collage prints and 2) a band design across a two-page layout.

This two-page layout was created with the adorable All American Collection Kit by Simple Stories.

Jana Eubank Simple Stories All American 1 600

I used a collage template that I purchased on a digital scrapbook site to create two 8×10 collage prints of the photos I took at our family picnic last year. Here is a closer look at the left page …

And here is the right page.

Jana Eubank Simple Stories All American 3 Right 600

When I printed the photo collage for the left page, I filled one of the squares with a plain light blue block of color. I left the blue and used this square to build my title block.

The silhouette of the United States was hand cut from one of the 4×6 cards from the 3×4 & 4×6 Journaling Card Elements paper. I then layered the “July 4th” stickers on top for the title.

In the lower left corner of the layout, I used a 2.75″ circle punch to anchor the rockets cut from the same Journaling Card Elements paper. I added the “Let Freedom Ring” phrase sticker, and then hand cut several stars from the Celebrate paper to use as accents.

I hand cut several more of those stars from the Celebrate paper to add to the other clusters around the layout to tie the clusters in with one another. Here you can see them accenting the stickers I used to accent my journaling strips.

And more of the stars are in the right hand corner along with the stamp stickers.

Even though there are a lot of photos and embellishments on this two-page layout, the simple band design keeps things clean and organized.

Thanks for coming by! I hope you are enjoying your summer!

Bella Blvd: Home of the Brave

Today I am up on the Bella Blvd. Blog with a process video featuring a patriotic page created with a combination of Bella Blvd. collections!

This was a really fun one to put together! I love working with a color scheme … grabbing elements from several collections to put together my own unique look for a project.

Jana Eubank Home Brave 1 600

The grid background paper is the Dancing Jellies paper from the Secrets of the Sea Boy collection. I then used my Silhouette Cameo 3 machine to cut the stars and stripes for the top of the page using the Blueberry Stars Paper (Oh My Stars Collection) and the On the Farm Paper (red wood slat paper from the Barnyard collection).

Jana Eubank Home Brave 2 600

The title is a combination of two packages of acrylic words (Home, Namaste and Be You, Be Brave) along with the Blueberry Wonky Alphabet Letter Stickers. So cute!

I love the circular die cut pieces that I added to the right of the title … don’t they remind you of fireworks?!

Jana Eubank Home Brave 3 600

I layered several star die cuts on top of the Blueberry Paper stars on the left side of the page and then added a mixture of Milk White, Blueberry Mix, and McIntosh Mix Puffy Stars stickers to give the page a “sparkly” look and add texture and dimension.

Jana Eubank Home Brave 6 600

Below the photos, I added two house die cuts along with a little cloud. The houses tie in with the “Home” of the Brave title at the top of the layout.

Stashbusting: Patriotic Pages

As I mentioned yesterday, I recently challenged myself to use this patriotic collection by Pebbles I have been hanging around in my stash … or get rid of it.

I still really love the designs, so I decided to put it to work. I created three layouts with it. I shared the first layout with you yesterday. Today, I will be sharing the other two.

This is a fun page about my daughter’s first time marching in a hometown 4th of July parade. I added a feminine touch to this page, by using the floral paper from the collection and adding in a lacey doily behind my photos.

Jana Eubank Red White Blue 1

The doily is placed at the cross section of the two patterned paper bands going vertically and horizontally across the page. It was also a great place to add an embellishment cluster.

The stars are simple red glitter “foamies” stickers from Michael’s. The dimensional rosette, pinwheel, and American sticker are so much fun together!

Jana Eubank Red White Blue 2

I had fun putting this title together with the three different alphabet stickers. Below the title is where I added my typed journaling strips.

Patterned Paper: Pebbles
Dimensional Stickers: Pebbles, Target Dollar Spot
Red Foam Glitter Star Stickers
Alphabet Letter Stickers: American Crafts, Momenta
Adhesive/ Foam Squares

This second page is a simple one and is also one of my go-to designs for two horizontal photos.

The pictures on this page aren’t the best quality-wise, but it records the memory of that night as a family, and that is what matters to me.

Jana Eubank Stadium 1

Another cluster of dimensional rosette stickers, surrounded by lots of sparkly red stars! Classic!

Jana Eubank Stadium 2

I added some interest to this side of the page, but adding a star gem to the center of the letter “o” … it’s enough to draw your eye across the page and make it feel “embellished.”

How about you? Are there collections in your stash that you need to challenge yourself to use or lose? What are they?

See you again soon!
