I am loving the way that the June 2023 Hip Kits go with so many of my photos. The June Embellishment Kit included a pack of LARGE 12″ wide die-cuts that piece together to form a mountain scene. I couldn’t wait to use them on this layout of my husband and son on a scouting trip to Flaming Gorge, Utah. Click on the image below to watch the process video!

EXPLORE THE OUTDOORS

I began this page with the woodgrain ‘Family Life’ paper as the background. The soft peach color goes perfectly with the mountain die-cuts and adds to the outdoorsy theme of the layout.

I decided to try my hand at the gold rub-ons that were included with the Embellishment Kit to create rays around my orange sun. In retrospect, I wish I had taken more time with this. I cut each line from a sunburst design and then applied them individually. I wasn’t as careful as I should have been, and it shows. Oh, well. We gotta get out of our comfort zone from time to time, right?

Since I had used the gold rub-ons around the sun, I decided to repeat them in a couple more places around the page. I added a coyote to the mountain on the right, and then the strip of pine trees to the blue layer above the small photos.

The dark pine trees came with the Mountain Die-Cuts. I added additional die-cuts (Main Kit) and chipboard pieces (Embellishment Kit) to create three clusters around the photos.

The title was created using the chipboard script ‘Explore’ word (Embellishment Kit), the tile letter stickers (Embellishment Kit), and the puffy alphabet letters (Main Kit). I love mixing up fonts in my titles. I think they make them so much more interesting to look at!

Last night I had the opportunity to join my Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine friends on the SCT Sampler Facebook Page to do some LIVE scrapbooking. The September SCT Sampler featured the Let’s Go collection by Simple Stories, which was the main focus of my page.

I used Robin’s Egg Color Vibe cardstock for my background then had fun combining the Let’s Go elements from the kits to create a scrapbook page about my husband and me going on a Caribbean cruise last January to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary!

Placing the tags at the top of my photo was a nice way to break up the straight edges of the photos and patterned paper layers. It also gave me an opportunity to add a bit of black & white baker’s twine … my favorite!

I used the ‘ENJOY’ metal die included in the September Sampler along with the Let’s Go Foam Stickers to create a title for my page. I placed each word on a banner shape cut from the patterned papers in the kit.

I used the stamp included with the kit to add some visual texture to the background with black ink.

Finally, I used a circle punch to punch out several circular star elements from one of the Let’s Go element cards. I added a sparkly enamel dot to the center of each star for a bit of shine.
