Family Time

Popping in this morning to share with you the first page I have created with the Noel Mignon March 2012 Homespun kit. I LOVE this kit! I have lots of girls, and you would think that I would be constantly reaching for pink . . . but in all honesty, my favorite colors to work with are green, brown, blue, yellow, and orange. When a paper collection features those colors I seem to reach for that collection again and again . . . Funny how that happens. 🙂 This kit mixes together 4 different paper manufacturers: My Mind’s Eye, Studio Calico, Echo Park Paper, and October Afternoon.

I used my Cricut Expression 2 machineto cut out the family icon and the word “family” in my title.  The sign art family is from the Going Places cartridge, and the title word comes from the Sophisticated cartridge. I also used Cricut Craft Room Basics to cut out the circles for this page.

LOVE that honeycomb paper from My Mind’s Eye . . . I think I’ll be getting more of that sheet. Swoon!

I have a thing for placing my photos grouped together . . . usually touching. That is how I start a page, and then I let the design develop from there . . . blocking sections out as I work out from the photo grouping. For this next page, I had five horizontal photos. I decided to place them together in a grid and use the sixth space to create a title collage.

I couldn’t get my photos to trim out exactly the same, so to hide the fact that one of them was taller than the rest (the shot of the swimming pool in the lower right corner), I covered the junctions of “grid” with circle embellishments. The bottom layer is Jenni Bowlin sticker buttons, and the buttons on top are by My Mind’s Eye. Layering the journal spots on top of the photos here-and-there also helps to disguise my not-exactly-perfect grid. 🙂

The photos on both of these pages are from the same overnighter trip my family took a few years ago. I giggle inside everytime I remember this family getaway . . . my husband was sooo excited that he had found a “great deal” for a condo online. When we went to check it out, it was a scary, mice-infested-looking place. Bwaaahaaa! I told him I couldn’t sleep there. That I wouldn’t feel comfortable even setting my suitcases on the ground. He agreed and we cancelled our reservation. 🙂 It was a good thing my husband’s sister worked just down the road at the super-swanky, Hotel Park City. She was able to score us a last-minute spot in one of the condos on the golf course. It was A-MAZING! We figured out the next morning why this particular condo was available, when we woke to road construction out our window. LOL! We didn’t mind . . . it all added to our funny family memory . . . and the kids were just happy that they got a chance to swim. 🙂

Alright, I’m headed off for a mid-morning nap. I’m fighting a nasty cold, and am hoping a few extra Zzzzz’s will help me to get rid of the sniffles sooner.

Have a great week!

Jana
