Halloween Pages: Eek!

Good morning! Wow! Thank you so much for your comments on my post the other day. It means so much to me when people take the time to read my blog, and even more when you take that extra little minute to leave me a sweet note! It’s one of the reasons I love blogging so much and I know you don’t have to do that. So THANK YOU!

Like I promised, I’m back with more Halloween layouts to share.

When I have a list of  projects I am itching to work on, and I want to get them finished relatively quickly, I like to turn to sketches as my starting point.

Recently, I have discovered a sketch artist that I am enjoying so much! Infact, several of my projects this week have started with one of her sketches. Her name is Laura Whitaker. She has been blogging and creating sketches for years, but she is new to me and I am having so much fun being inspired by her designs. Both of my pages I am sharing today began with one of her designs. Be sure to check her out! She has such a lovely, layered look that is a lot of fun to work with. Thanks for the inspiration, Laura!

EEK!

I’ve continued my goal of doing some stash-busting on these pages today, mixing a few new embellishments on a page with older papers and embellishments.

The new embellishments here are from the Crate Paper After Dark Ephemera pack (orange paper clip, chipboard skeleton and bat), a tag cut from the Crate Paper After Dark “October Tags” paper (AWESOME sheet with lots of mileage … I hope they design more papers like this for future collections!), and After Dark Halloween Shape Stickers.

All of the papers are items I had in my stash. I took a cue from the chevron paper in the “After Dark” collection and selected an older Amy Tan paper reminded me of it. Then mixed in the orange SEI paper (pumpkins on one side, glittery stripes on the other) and black My Mind’s Eye paper.

The spiderwebs were cut using my Silhouette Cameo machine. I’m loving the way they are layered together, peeking out from behind the photos.

Older embellishments: Recollections Crow Stickers (2014), Heidi Swapp Circle Journaling Spot (2006), and The Girls’ Paperie crepe paper circle from the Toil and Trouble collection.

HALLOWEEN

I had lots of fun layering on this next page using scraps of older Halloween papers. The background is from a Martha Stewart paper pad, then I pulled in additional papers from SEI, My Mind’s Eye, and The Girls’ Paperie.

I layered a bunch of little bits from the After Dark Ephemera Pack over the banner shapes. The title is an After Dark chipboard piece accented with a metal embellishment (The Girls’ Paperie), a flower (The Girls’ Paperie or Making Memories), and printed canvas stars (I believe these were by Jillibean Soup?).

I accented the journal spot the same way, but added a handcut paper pennant and a stamped pennant in the upper left corner. Lots of fun bits and pieces getting used up on this one!

It’s always a great feeling to use up items from your stash, and I’m really enjoying mixing all kinds of brands and textures together. I hope you are feeling inspired to put your stash to use on your next project!

See you again soon!
